I mean c'mon we've got gun control (how "inverse" is that.. ? for a place with seemingly no gun control) and obamacare to cover , at the VERY LEAST. anyone care to add some 'cmon cover these ! ' to pique our burgeoning interest. Im expecting something political or anti governmental at some point, the month is still young!.

So the Gothamist reported yesterday that the one of the photos of the mobile waterfall truck posted to the Banksy website was snapped in front of a meat market at 139 2nd Avenue. Figured I may as well walk over and hang there even though the Gothamist had published a bad tip earlier in the day totally misidentifying the truck. So I roll up on 139 around 6pm. Nothing. Another bad tip. Then, before walking off, I look up at the signage. J. Baczynsky Meat Market. Hilarious. If you recall, in the first toll free recording the tour guide guy said something along the lines of "you are looking at a painting by the British artist Ban-Sky. So I tweet out my discovery. And, along with others who showed up, waited. One hour. Two hours. Time to give up. As I was leaving three or four fire engines arrive around the corner on St. Marks. Walked over to see what all the commotion was. Blocked in behind the fire engines was a delivery truck with graffiti on it that looked familiar. Bingo. Long-haired, jump-suit driver guy pulled the truck over the curb and up onto the sidewalk a little. Crowd gathered. Driver made a phone call. When the firetrucks left he got out of the cab and opened the back. So. Don't know if J. Baczynsky Meat Market was the target location or the driver parked where he did because he got stuck behind the firetrucks. But the two locations are very close to each other.
TL;DR Team Banksy probably released a clue as to where the mobile waterfall would make its first appearance.

Thee is something unsettling about both images, but for entirely different reasons.

I wanted to post a similar image of people gathering around the back of a truck with their hands in the air - but one taken in a 'developing' country where it is emergency aid being distributed to a desperate population. Thee is something unsettling about both images, but for entirely different reasons. |

you simply can't capture "a vibe/experience" on a phone ffs - get a grip..
I remember Massive Attack at Brixton.. all the phones - with simply WHITE on them.. funny as ferk.

I find it strange when you see people holding iPads in front of their faces, recording or taking pictures. I live in a tourist town and some days you can see small groups of people with iPads for faces.

What I had in mind when I snapped the series of photos this is from is a Reuters image from St Peter's Square when Francis was announced as the new Pope. A sea of thousands of illuminated mobile devices held aloft in outstretched hands photographing the moment. A stunning image that perfectly captured our socially connected digital age, which, in my humble opinion, is a major theme of Banksy's NYC event. |
