Thanks to everyone who is sharing their thoughts on the goings on.
I'm looking forward to the upcoming days as I feel the 'show' has taken a pretty dark turn over the last couple of instalments even though the balloon was a beautiful stencil with a lovely message.
I'm confident Banksy can pull it around.
Someone else mentioned the relationship of the Dumbo video to what's going on with the show and I think that is pretty true.
Some violence should have been used on Amor. Someone should have kicked him in the shin.
These taggers are graffiti extremists.
They may be hard core graffers but they are toys of the mind. I thank you.
I'd like to think that the hard core graffers I admire in NY would have the knowledge and understanding to not disrespect Banksy in this way.

i agree it's always interesting to see and hear views of puritans.. giving their opinions in a holier that though fashion... it's comical .. yet so contradictory.
Puritans are generally funny people they believe so much yet.. don't see and hear themselves for what they are.. kill joys.. sadly at the end of the day.. hey go for it .. it's funny ..

For the non-French people, the Omar story is one of the most popular and mediatised criminal story in France. A woman was found dead in her cave and there was a big writing on the wall made of blood - "Oma m'a tuer" (Omar killed me). Nonetheless there is a grammatical error in the tag, it should have been "Omar m'a tué" (you learn this in fourth grade). And because the victim was a crossword fan and French, she could have never done that error, even between life and death... So cops came to the conclusion that it was written by someone uneducated, a foreigner may be... So they picked Omar, the gardener, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison but years later relaxed as innocent.
They even made of movie, called "Omar killed me"

It's a completely new way to be involved. At 11PM last night, while comfortably at home, I was chatting real time , and seeing pictures, with a guy standing in front of the balloon piece who had had just witnessed another guy being taken away, and the cops were still there.... It was all very exciting.
And just to add: after being there earlier and spending time walking around the neighborhood I had a sense of what it was like to be there for real, while jabbering away, digitally, on my phone later that evening. A bit surreal.
Lets see what a new day brings.

If you look at my New York accent piece it technically crosses over someone else's work. If he had placed it to the left on the door he could have avoided the other.
Likewise if you look at "The Musical" these also tag tags not sure my terms are technically correct.
So bit hard to blame others for doing what he has done.
But as mentioned previously think BAnksy new and wanted this to happen as all pieces ideally for this. It's part of hat he is doing.

Besides the BTM tag over one of the pieces, which was confirmed on 12ozprophet as being the real BTM I havent seen any respected or real taggers making an attempt to diss him. Most of the guys know the eyes on them and I just havnt seen it happen. The first sign was replaced and mocked by the Smart Crew which is another respected Ny crew, they added to the piece after the sign was stolen and put their own sign on it with their symbol and painted a new arm saying street art not allowed. That was a respectable play on the piece by real writers who could have easily defaced it, and defaced with style nice tags or a throwup covering it. They chose to play with it leaving it complete, which for me shows respect. The second piece was tagged on by what i would call more basic writers could have been kids, and it did involve fans writing on it. Those tags were amateur at best. The dog was the same it wasnt tagged on by any real respected or graffiti artists that anyone would know. The playground Mobb piece contained the word Mob in it and BTM sometimes stands for Big Time Mob, which could have provoked the tag on it. This last one was to me Robbo Beef, which is why I hate the fact people lump all taggers into going over Banksy. It seems that he is getting some sort of respect from the established writers and he might actually be with some of them, as I have stated before I am sure he would be hanging writers and artists. Saying that this whole spectacle is multiplied x10 because he is hyping it and bringing traffic to the pieces, which will always bring some bad apples. To me and its maybe because I can see the difference in a tag from a 15 yr old, and a 40 yr old, and a iphone user trying to look cool. So I see it differently than many others. Thanks for the post- always good to get the local view on what's happening. Will be v interesting to see what happens with the rest of the show

I am thinking once a banksy is found it would be next to impossible to add to it in any way with the craze going on now. A tag is about all the time you would have, also I am sure cops are on notice as well now once a piece is found.
