Price Check: CYW colourways help, by kultur on Sept 22, 2013 17:40:24 GMT 1, Best advice you will get is to wait a couple months before buying a CYW. See what happens for Banksy in October... Prices realistically shouldnt get much higher for this print right now that was selling for max. 3500 GBP about a year to a year and 1/2 ago.
Hi, first post for me but have been lurking for a couple of months. Looking to make my first major art purchase in the next month or so and am set on a CYW. Only difficulty I am having is knowing what colourway to choose as pricing seems to be all over the place for different ones. My preference is for either red, blue, green, magenta or purple. Can anyone give me some realistic pricing if I sourced privately or through a gallery?

Price Check: CYW colourways help, by Dexter Bulldog on Sept 22, 2013 23:35:58 GMT 1, Is it fair to say ยฃ10k is the over under for in demand colors at the moment? Lesser demand colors like soft yellow 7-9k, middle of the road colors 9-11k and 11-15k for the more demanded colors like red? (Not incluing any of the vips)

Price Check: CYW colourways help, by Dexter Bulldog on Sept 22, 2013 23:43:49 GMT 1, Also i dont know if id agree with the sentiment to wait ona purchase... As people are paying these prices, theyre going to want to display or hold these long term, making them scarcer. Im pretty new myself, but that just seems like common sense to me. Would love to hear more seasoned experts opinions.

Price Check: CYW colourways help, by kultur on Sept 23, 2013 2:41:09 GMT 1, It is amazing to me that people do not seem to accept that Banksy prices do rise and FALL. Originals, prints and posters have all gone up and down in price on the secondary market. Right after the CYW release there were some colors that were sold for 8-10k on ebay. A couple months later they were struggling to sell for 3k
I can't tell you how many insinuated that CYW was his last print and that he had disappeared. It would be very difficult to convince me that did not have something to do with the sudden rise in price. Obviously he isnt gone yet, and now there is a good chance that there might be more prints in the future.
Hey buy what you like... just try and buy it at the right time unless you have money to burn... if you think that is now then of course you must be right.

Price Check: CYW colourways help, by naughtyshorty on Sept 23, 2013 3:36:30 GMT 1, I'm not sure why people think a future release is going to make any past prints go up or down... Nola or Gwb haven't been affected by any previous prints, so not sure why a new print would either...
On another note, good luck getting a Cyw, let alone in the colour of your choice.. These prints seem to just keep on getting rarer and rarer...

I'd be surprised if a future show by Banksy either with or without a new print release, would cause the prints currently in circulation to drop in value. It's probably the perceived hype around CYW being his last print (possibly) that people feel has been over played, resulting in rocketing prices. In my own efforts at trying to source a CYW I'd have to concede that there was little response. It's supply & demand a lot of people have sold already so less are available. Some people won't sell, no matter what the price. Its also hard to believe that if/when the price collapses the people who wouldn't sell high will then sell low.

Price Check: CYW colourways help, by Deleted on Sept 23, 2013 9:57:24 GMT 1, Whether its rarer or not its all marketing thats pushed prices up like everything else,Banksy is bankable at present and thats that, his works on the street and shows are good / excellent and exciting imo but everything after that ie.prints etc.is a business which is run by the business of selling. Wish i had a few tucked away though.
