Faile - Happens Everyday Over 2k, by Zippy on Nov 25, 2007 23:04:41 GMT 1, I can only say its worth what someone is willing to pay. But, thats a lot of dough! However, this could be one of those threads we re-visit in a years' time and say what a bargain! IMO its a lot of money. You can nearly (ยฃ500 difference) get a signed banksy! Z

That's quite a jump (if legitimate).

Faile - Happens Everyday Over 2k, by lastpost on Nov 26, 2007 0:12:21 GMT 1, Woah!! Faile prices seem to be one of the few that have held/risen during recent times. They are amazing though, so I can see why!!

Maybe 10 color ways, but each unique, making them closer to originals than a regular edition.
One of my favorite Faile images of all time, the NYC skyline in the back.. delicious!
Only time will tell if the buyer overpaid, but it (imo) is one of Faile's strongest offerings ever

If Faile's were less expensive I would probably pick one up, but with prices so high you really have to only go after you favorite Faile's

Faile - Happens Everyday Over 2k, by funster on Nov 26, 2007 0:46:58 GMT 1, I've got an original Aiko which I've been told is like a Faile but have never been able to quite work it out past thinking Aiko was/is part of Faile... following?!? Always been a bit embarrassed to admit to not knowing as I only bought it because I liked it! Beyond that I don't know if my piece is worth anything more than the price of an old and abused kitchen door. Can anyone enlighten me? (pic below)

As best as I can understand it from someone very close to Aiko, she was part of the collective as well as a girlfriend. You want to know whether her having been part of Faile means your piece has the same cachet as a Faile original and therefore carries the same value? The answer is IMHO at the moment its not worth anywhere near what a Faile is worth in terms of money but the more successful Faile becomes, the more people (like you and I) will be introduced to Aiko's work and she will have that advantage. Of course ultimately much of depends on whether people like her work. Speaking for myself, some of it I like and some is a bit too "Keene" for my taste.
There's one caveat to all of this which also assumes Faile becomes very successful and more and more becomes known about them as more people in the mainstream take an interest. At the moment this seems more then possible watching their success just keep growing exponentially. If it turns out that Aiko was indeed a girlfriend and some of the work created was about all the dynamics between her and one of the Patricks as well as both of them (think Yoko and John), then many more people will take an interest in her work and that would obviously add to its value. Everyone loves a soap opera ...
Meanwhile enjoy your piece of art.

Faile - Happens Everyday Over 2k, by robo on Nov 26, 2007 2:59:46 GMT 1, I have Aiko's "Fiesta" on my wall from the same show as this - a dirty blue wooden door with loads of detail on it: 2 bunnies, ice cream cone, panda, lettering in English and Japanese and loads of animal transfers - its one of my favorite pieces with a real lively vibrant feel - quite a different vibe to my Faile stuff.

Faile - Happens Everyday Over 2k, by funster on Nov 26, 2007 3:14:05 GMT 1, Thanks for your replies, it really clears some stuff up and is very interesting. I won't deny that I wasn't interested in the price link between Faile and Aiko, who isn't, but this really was an honest question over who she was Faile prices seem t5o be 'weird' at the moment so I wasn't expecting a close link! Best wishes and thanks again

Faile - Happens Everyday Over 2k, by Danger Mouse on Nov 26, 2007 14:56:25 GMT 1, I can only say its worth what someone is willing to pay. But, thats a lot of dough! However, this could be one of those threads we re-visit in a years' time and say what a bargain! IMO its a lot of money. You can nearly (?500 difference) get a signed banksy! Z
True, but a signed Banksy is in an edition of 150. Failes are also signed but in an edition of approx 10, plus hand finshed. So if the Faile image is good, then I think its a far better deal getting the Faile, providing you prefer the Faile image over a particular Banksy image. Far more unique.

It will interesting to revisit this sentiment in a year or so and see if its still relevant. My guess is we will see a very different landscape simply because of how much work there is out there from Faile and the sort of work it is, compared to what's out there from Banksy. It's just a hunch but I think $2K for a Faile print will look like a very very good bargain, in fact a steal.

Totally agree. I think the gap between the price of a Banksy piece and the price of a Faile piece will get smaller. Watch this space!!

Faile - Happens Everyday Over 2k, by gozgoz on Nov 27, 2007 14:06:20 GMT 1, Aiko had a fair bit of input into alot of the Faile stuff before she left, more obvious in some pieces rather than others. She may no command the same same prices as alot of faile work, but in many ways I prefer her work to most Faile offerings, and love my 2 canvases The bus was done while she was still with Faile but from a solo show, Poison bunny rocks.
HBey where did u get that miffy one from?
