Invader arrested overnight in NY, by met on Nov 1, 2013 17:41:34 GMT 1, A few of the posts in this thread are pretty disheartening. They illustrate how easily a mob mentality can develop when people make assumptions, jump to conclusions, get themselves worked up, and pass judgement before learning the full story.
It's like a criminal jury reaching a guilty verdict immediately after hearing the prosecution case, without bothering to wait and listen to the defence.
The "scumbag" and "cunt" comments may be colourful, but are they fair? And posting the property owner's email address "for hate mails", before checking the facts stated were both accurate and complete, is shameful.

for the most part, rightly called out. hadnt had my morning cup of coffee/smoke yet so likely a bit on edge. all the same, i responded to what was written/assumed above, and likely should have started with, "should the conjecture be true...xyz." after learning the reality of it, i responded in kind. so, while im not quite ashamed, you make a fair point. thankfully this is a forum, and not a courtroom.

I was surprised at how he just presumed it was OK to keep it.
Either leave it on the wall, or give it back to Invader so he can put it somewhere else.

The "scumbag" and "c**t" comments may be colourful, but are they fair? And posting the property owner's email address "for hate mails", before checking the facts stated were both accurate and complete, is shameful. lastly, not that i should have to defend myself at all, but after giving it a second thought - you took the 'scumbag' out of context...and applied it to your point.
my initial point was in response to a gallery who's sole purpose is to promote/represent art/artists, and the fact that he, in fact, removed a piece of art that was placed there for a reason. granted, it's his building, but that shows zero respect/support for the art/placement of where it was intended. it's contrary to the point of street art living and breathing in the place it was intended. as someone, a gallery owner no less, involved in the arts, i have less of leniency for him removing a piece (vs, say joe blow building owner, feeling they 'won the lottery' with a banksy on their building). he clearly understood the 'value' of the piece on the streets (ie admiration from others, like myself, that find enjoyment in seeing these pieces on the street), while also understanding the self-serving 'value' (ie monetary) of a street piece kept behind closed doors in his flat. id like to think many on this forum, and those that have been supporters of the street art movement for many years, would take issue with that.
i was kind enough to thoughtfully reply with to your commentary, and even agree with you on certain points, i hope that you'll respond in kind to mine.

For anyone that cant be arsed to click the link. Its a very nice Invader piece!

Invader arrested overnight in NY, by randomname on Nov 1, 2013 22:32:19 GMT 1, But he will never get a visa there again The French can visit the United States for up to 90 days without a visa. Even if he lived in a country that requires a visa, I think he would have to be convicted and/or deported to not be able to enter the country.
Even then, it's not all that strict. A friend of mine was arrested about six years ago while on a work visa and received a new visa after that one expired.
Also, if I remember right, he was arrested a couple years ago in LA.

But if i remember correct i think he skipped bail and flew back to France before he was convicted... Would that stunt harm him now that the dude got himself arrested in NY? To be honest, if he seriously skipped his bail in LA back in '11, then there will be an outstanding warrant for his arrest in CA. No question about that. Which could be shitty for Invader if, through the magic of the interwebz, the NYPD found out about that warrant before his release. At that point, he would be extradited back to CA to deal with his outstanding warrant. Never thought about that until now...

At that point, he would be extradited back to CA to deal with his outstanding warrant. Never thought about that until now... From the arrest in 2011
The Los Angeles Police Department caught and arrested two French nationals vandalizing buildings with “buckets of grout and pieces of tile” near the LA Museum of Contemporary Art’s Little Tokyo gallery this past Friday. One of the vandals seems to be the famed French street artist Space Invader, reports the LA Times.
Jack Richter, an LAPD senior lead officer, said authorities believe that one of those detained was Space Invader. The LA Times writes, “The pair were released while the investigation continued, and Richter said officials were checking with federal immigration officials to see if they had flown back to Paris.”
So the alleged Space Invader was arrested and his marks found on other buildings in the area, including on the Geffen Contemporary, but the artist is possibly out of the country already.
