Opinions on buying gift prints of Banksy, by sufsean on Nov 1, 2013 15:24:19 GMT 1, The example is someone is selling a signed Banksy NOLA print that is stamped but not numbered.
They have an email from Pest saying since it's a gift print they can't authenticate it because a gift print shouldn't be sold.
I don't know how often there are fakes going around, but wanted to get the opinion of the board.
Is this a stay away? or a "who cares--go for it"?
Thanks in advance for your opinions/advice.

Also, the email doesn't really say that much about that specific print does it?
You could buy it and get lucky but I'd want to know who was the gift recipient and get a proper paper trail from them and verify it all. That would take some of the risk away but would take a lot of legwork to do!

Opinions on buying gift prints of Banksy, by Happy Shopper on Nov 1, 2013 19:29:27 GMT 1, I was thinking of buying a nice gift print a while ago, but Pest Control wanted original owners details and photos, and then could only say that it had previously been denied a COA... and when I asked why it was refused they didn't reply... so I was stuck!
The trouble is that any future buyer would probably want to go through that same process, which is a pain in the arse and not a good idea overall.

I would buy a gift print if it was cheap and an image I loved and would fever want to sell.

But most 'gift prints' i come across are without COA's ( and with the emails though) and i would steer well away on those prints!

They will be able to verify details etc that are required for pest control approval. Once a gift has passed out of the original owners hands, its very much hit and miss, even with pow / pc email. I have one which i have framed and am 100% happy is legit, been on the wall for about 5 years now. Came from a very trustworthy source, confirmed the email with pow and got a similar answer to the second owner, story checks out, print checks out, rare signed banksy on my wall for less than a grand.
then again, unless it was from a very reliable source i would not go near one these days, too risky with the likes of WCP etc....

And I don't give a fcuk..
It still is my pride and joy..
I know I ll never be able to buy a proper Banksy signed print but at the end of the day I own a Banksy signed print
