Framing a MAHOOSIVE print, by Goooogle Male on Nov 4, 2013 16:48:23 GMT 1, My mate has just bought this print, and now realises that it is bloody enormous - 385 × 297 cm !!
It is a giclee so imagine it will come tubed, but what suggestions do you have regarding framing/mounting etc...?!
It isn't hugely valuable (£145) so display costs can't really be hugely more than that either.
My worry was that even if he can get it mounted / framed he won't actually be able to get that into his flat and up the stairs as 297cm is bigger than a standard door frame...! Also, has real issues regarding transport etc.
My initial thought, suggestion is that he has it cut it into 3 equal vertical pieces and converts it into a triptych, and then has each piece dry mounted separately (he's not bothered about resale or the 'value' so dry mount is an option for him) - that way each piece will be transportable / manageable. etc
I just wondered whether anyone else had experience / tips for displaying something this massive??

Framing a MAHOOSIVE print, by 10th Mountain on Nov 4, 2013 16:57:31 GMT 1, Are you sure it is not mm? That is really cheap for a giclee of that size, and not many machines can print that large. I am sure your friend is right, it just seems very cheap

Framing a MAHOOSIVE print, by Hubble Bubble on Nov 4, 2013 16:59:07 GMT 1, I have a massive film poster from France that is still nowhere near this size... 3.8 metres?!!! Bloody hell. That's bigger than some rooms
I just keep it folded (it came that way) and open it out for occasional viewings.
Not solving the problem but I feel your friend's pain.

Framing a MAHOOSIVE print, by Deleted on Nov 4, 2013 17:40:13 GMT 1, There's no way this is a single sheet print - esp at £145 - that or the dimensions are wrong Can you imagine someone trying to deliver it....even tubed its a farking monster Agree. Think the dimensions must be wrong, because 385 x 297 isn't far off A3. I suggest getting confirmation.
If not wrong, take it to a football match and use it as a big picture to be passed over the heads of the crowd.

Framing a MAHOOSIVE print, by Strange Al on Nov 4, 2013 18:32:06 GMT 1, I think this is a Steve Deer photograph, which is available on Artfinder. As others have suggested, my guess is that they've noted the dimensions incorrectly and we're talking "mm" rather than "cm". Definitely worth double checking with the website. If it really is 385cm x 297cm, then turn it into wallpaper, as Otomi has said.

I'll get him to check the sizing - my first impression was that it must be mm not cm but ill get him to call and check.
Al - correct, it is a Steve Deer giclee...

Framing a MAHOOSIVE print, by urbanxi on Nov 5, 2013 16:03:07 GMT 1, The timber frame wouldn't be a problem at all. I assume it's be built straight onto the wall as opposed to a traditional frame tho.
But I think you'll really struggle to get a singular sheet of perspex for the front. The largest size commercially manufactured is 3050mm x 2030mm so you're gonna end up with a joint right down the middle through the van

Take a picture using your iphone, print it out and frame that

Framing a MAHOOSIVE print, by Goooogle Male on Nov 15, 2013 17:25:12 GMT 1, Did it turn out to be the dimensions of a wall :-o
no I saw my mate yesterday and he said it was in fact A3 size. He did get a personal phone call from the artist to apologies for the incorrect sizing online (cm instead of mm) and he was offered the option to have the purchase refunded (which he declined)
