Vision - Popham Airfield 1992 Doc, by razorwire on Nov 7, 2013 13:47:52 GMT 1, Did anyone else go to this? The single craziest event I've ever been to - way overcrowded with 40,000 or more people at an event licenced for 25,000, (Removed)ial rain causing one of the tents to shut early and utter nonsense going off everywhere, it was absolutely bonkers.
Police were telling everyone it was cancelled (yeah right, when you could hear and see it from miles away!), and those that jumped the gates included a fair amount of unsavoury characters which added a element of danger but all in all one of the greatest nights of my life.
The flyer for this was full of blatant lies, as was par for the course with early 90's raving ("fully carpeted arena" anyone?). The "Hollywood Bladerunner film set" it promised was literally a couple of old car bonnets suspended on ropes, absolutely laughable and I have to admire their cheek now for daring to get away with it. No-one really cares about that stuff when you are in but it's still shocking how much was promised for events and never materialised.
This really signalled the end of those massive outdoor events for me and I switched to smaller more intimate club venues like Wonderland at the Astoria.

Vision - Popham Airfield 1992 Doc, by curiousgeorge on Nov 7, 2013 22:10:15 GMT 1, Lived less than 20 miles away and took us way over 3 hours to get to it!!
Experienced Spiral Tribe events with pure anarchy. This event headed that way but not in good sense. The majority of chat about this locally was to go and tax loads of folk.
Metalheadz at Blue Note were the probably the hardest, darkest beats played, yet the atmosphere and people were amazing
"Sorry Dj..x/y/z's flight has been cancelled"

Vision - Popham Airfield 1992 Doc, by razorwire on Nov 8, 2013 14:14:40 GMT 1, The majority of chat about this locally was to go and tax loads of folk. I heard absolutely loads of horror stories about people getting rolled all over the shop afterwards and some of our mates ran into bits of bother with security, or people posing as security anyway but I was pretty oblivious to it all at the time - and to be honest I would have been a very easy target that night! As I said I had a great night, despite the wind, mud, rain and the general dodgy vibe making it feel like it might go off at any time - certainly one of the moodiest events I ever went to. I've since learnt that the promoter for Vision was allegedly more than a little bit on the dodgy side himself which explains a bit of what went down.
I think it took us about 6 hours from London, most of which was thanks to the old bill and their road blocks trying to prevent people getting on site.
