Unfortunately you don't get so much higher prices by painting outside (unless you're Phlegm and refuses to do anything on canvas and collectors is going mad when he rejects their insanely high offers). Hopefully DAL will do some great gallery shows in the future, his show at Jonathan Levine was great, but I'm a bit sceptic to an Outsiders show in Newcastle..

China is a rising economy and they want to buy art. If this street art thing we all love her is growing big enough they want to buy art by artists from their own country. Dolk is biggest in Norway and Banksy is biggest in UK and if one million Chinese wants a DAL piece his prices will skyrocket! I'm not betting all my cards that this will happen, but if something like that happens on a smaller scale it could help his career that he's Chinese.

I've been fortunate to spend time with him and Faith two years in a row for Wall\Therapy and consider them both friends. Dal is very humble and grounded and just a great overall person (with a great partner at his side in Faith). Even though they don't like painting together the two of them make a great pair.
As far as his future prices are concerned - I'm biased so I hope it's a natural progression upward and agree that once the Chinese start taking more of an interest who knows what will happen. I'm happy to have commissioned him when I did (May of 2012) because it's pretty safe to say I wouldn't be able to afford a piece from a gallery at this point.

DAL may be hot property right now, and I can see why him doing Rathbone might give the perception he's still sky-rocketing, but Rathbone surely is more reserved for established names on the Laz roster? And considering Bast did a show there not too long ago, who has 50 times the pedigree that DAL can currently boast, I don't think you can really call it a cheap second tier gallery! Maybe his next show at Rathbone but makes sense to me that he would do Newcastle - maybe thats my north east bias though! =] |

Obviously same country, but it is quite a trek up there. That said a night out on the toon is bound to be a fun experience especially observing how little some people wear even though its freezing cold! |

My point was more without knowing how long Sal is over for it may or may not be feasible to fit in a visit to the gallery. Train is definitely the way to go, I remember driving up and it felt like it took forever
