In all fairness, fair play for taking the time out to write all of that. All in all, I think he's just saying there's a lot of hypocrisy that goes on in art/ this forum. People are giving Dal a hard time because of his owl yet we're all perfectly happy with Stik. I get it. Not sure i agree with it.

It is very exciting to acquire art that you know can be sold for way more than your original cost the minute you leave the gallery (whether you are keeping it or flipping it, the feeling is the same). I bet no one would really be that enthusiastic to pick up this print and line up early if the gallery was selling these owl etchings for 1k gbp.

Same with the Banksy releases, how many people would actually line up outside POW for days if they released the next Banksy print for 3k GBP.

No hypocrisy, just human nature.

There really are worse things to get upset about than people selling art at inflated prices and at least this way if anyone really wants them they can go* rather than dealing with 'bots' online and instant sell outs. I reckon though a decent percentage of these will be kept by the original buyer but we shall see; this is based on the small o.gs sold at the last show, which I've not seen resold yet. 

Obviously the gallery knows that these prints are worth more than £225 so as said above if they were priced to the market, you'd be able to roll up at 7pm the following week. So in my book, fair play to anyone going and enduring the northern weather and they can do what they like with them when they've got them.

Well documented that Laz loves the flippers.

It means the artists stock goes up and they can charge more for the next print. It's no good to the gallery or the artist that the prints are just sat on the shelf.

That and another point, flipping allows a great majority of people access to the work despite what people think.  Example, I couldn't make the Paul Insect VNA release but really wanted the issue, i didn't win the lottery so my choice was to go on ebay and buy it.  That's capitalism, awesome, i get something i want at a price i think is fair.  Someone makes a bit of cash after putting in the leg work.

Well, I just slapped this up on ebay with a BIN price of $9250 U.S.  I know, I know, keep on dreaming.  But ... you never know, right?  In any event, I am obviously also using the "make an offer" feature.  So, feel free to make an offer, either here or there, and we'll see what happens.  At the moment, I'm restricting the sale to the U.S., just because of what a hassle shipping overseas is.  Thanks for looking!

Lroy, I think you're right about too much stencil art on this forum... but it's not bad because they use stencils... it's just bad art!

I love people like Arys's style, but it works best outdoors and not as small paintings or prints. So people don't talk about him so much... Unfortunately.

But there are good artists, not stencil, that are loved here! DALeast is one, and Stik, and Paul Insect (does a bit of everything), Faile, Bast, Rae, Kaws, DFace, Matt Small, Micallef, JR, David Choe, etc, etc.
