Hanging heavy pictures, by Dungle on Nov 9, 2013 23:28:16 GMT 1, So every house I've ever had before has had hard walls and I've used picture hooks for hard walls without problems.
in my new place I want to hang quite a heavy box frame in the kitchen, but the walls seem to be really soft and the usual hooks I use don't stay firmly enough in the wall.
what do you use to hang heavy pictures in soft walls?

having just had the place decorated at great expense I don't want to be banging loads of shitty holes in it!

Hanging heavy pictures, by Deleted on Nov 9, 2013 23:41:35 GMT 1, If you don't want extra drill holes hen why not just use a really long rawl plug and screw?
I got a large 100cm x 100cm canvas and even though its not that heavy I got paranoid about it falling down so it's got a ****ing long screw holding it in the wall along with 2 shorter ones.
I would recommend 2 holes though as that way it just spreads the load evenly over 2 screws.

I don't have a drill though so was trying to avoid needing one. Lazy I know!

Hanging heavy pictures, by Chrisp on Nov 9, 2013 23:55:59 GMT 1, Tend to use these on my of my hanging now instead of picture hooks. No cord and you get two screws into the wall to take the weight. You can screw the hook into the wall and it gives a much tighter fit against the wall, no hanging forward. Works on most normal frames too, so not just canvases.

I have a big piece arriving fro mr Jago (in case I haven't banged on about it enough!) I shall use this to hang it.

If I doubt get someone in to help, save you causing damage. (Life is as we know too short..)
