Martin Whatson One Small Step Print, by Deleted on Nov 30, 2013 21:52:26 GMT 1, mr madein ... having a little joke with mr cero and some older forum members. ย They are sick of me posting pictures at the drop of a hat. ย I have ER on metal with museum glass that is larger than standard print and yes it did cost a fair bit on money ... but then I cost/benefit over the number of years I am going to keep it. All the best - dappy
Yeah I bet that museum glass must have cost a small fortune but if, like you say, you're going to keep it I can see the sound logic in getting it.
I suppose the beauty with aluminium pieces is that you don't have to cover them up but that extra layer of protection can never hurt.
Sweetcorn - it's 'YOU'RE a text book example'. There's no point insulting someone else's intelligence when your own grammar is that bad. It's ok I haven't quoted you so you can edit your post to correct your grammar if you like!

Martin Whatson One Small Step Print, by linguiny on Nov 30, 2013 21:57:56 GMT 1, Will post some photos of it when its done, think it will be black thin frame With plexiglass to protect my New treasure Congrats with a stunning piece madeinnorway! But one thing; I have the MW ER on aluminum and I have had it framed with glass (to "protect" it), but that totally ruined the look of it - because the glass "camouflaged" the beautiful high-gloss aluminum with the matte spaceman almost floating on top.. Give it a thick matte black frame, but nothing in front. (PM me for details if you want, I'm norwegian..). BTW +1 on the print! I have museum glass in my Aluminium Angel and you wouldn't know there's glass in it. IMO it's well worth the extra cost.

ER on alu was the piece i had on top of my wish list, but had to buy the OSS when i got the chanse, do you still have the floating feeling from the reflection from the black, that makes it so great, when it is behind museum glass?

Martin Whatson One Small Step Print, by nandaman on Nov 30, 2013 22:40:19 GMT 1, You know, I have a Miss Bugs piece on aluminum, and I like it without any glass - shouldn't need glass, museum or otherwise on aluminum - just let those raw colors and details show with a nice matte black frame! (and save enough money to buy another print, whooo hoooo!)

Martin Whatson One Small Step Print, by .dappy on Nov 30, 2013 22:50:56 GMT 1, ... I agree anything metal, wood, even canvas does not necessarily need a covering, but I like all/most my pieces covered or boxed perspex ... just my opinion and small kids .
But you really cannot see the museum glass, I have to follow people around with my micro-fibre cloth when they keep touching the glass to see if it is there!
PS: floating feeling - yes!

What are the Penny and Dolk pieces you have then?
I bought a 1m x 1m Dolk Bomb Suit canvas but nearly fainted when someone quoted me for a perspex box with museum glass in it! I've just hung it where people can see but not touch it and I'm ok with that!

Would it not be better to leave it open to air so the aluminium starts to oxidise and develops its "age" and patina over time ?
Yep the art wouldn't be "as new" as something kept under glass but it would certainly be more original.
It's not my money that would be hanging on the wall but it feels to me like it would look incredible after some time and life had worked on it.
(Obviously I have some interest in antiques too)

I agree it would give it a certain charm and the while 'weathered' look would look incredible. The problem is always when a piece of art costs a lot in the first place you always need to think of the potential resale value.
I've got a Prefab77 'The Heist' on aluminium that isn't covered but it's not near any windows so I'm quite happy. If I start to notice any change in the way it looks I'll be the first to stick something over it!

Martin Whatson One Small Step Print, by snik on Dec 1, 2013 19:06:46 GMT 1, Does seem odd people are buying at inflated prices, and not sure why this gallery is making buyers pay over the odds for them - perhaps they could shed some light on it?? These are the AP's that are for sale guys, not standard edition. Gave GP the chance to promote some, they are actually marked at less than they would be sold at through DelaMain (although no AP's have been released currently)

Snik- no need to explain. Neither should GP. The cost is the cost, if anyone thinks these are overly priced, they can always choose to not purchase.
Snik- I'm glad you're getting more exposure. You're stencil cutting skills are above and beyond! Would love a Falling on my wall, however, my bank account will not allow it.
Keep up the great work, Snik and GP!
