For Sale- Bast - Crazy Mickey - Edition of only 6, by fairplay1974 on Nov 27, 2013 14:36:39 GMT 1, - 'Crazy Mickey' edition of only 6.
- Each unique and all hand finishing varied.
- Screen print with spray paint, paint splatter and hand painted text.
- Signed and numbered.
- Provenance in hand.
- POW embossed.
- Piece is approx. 76.5cm x 57cm.
- Conservation framed in a really high quality wooden Box frame with UV glass by Pauli Frames, frame has invisible corners and the print is floated raised off a black mat.
- Frame is approx. 94cm x 73.5cm.
A really messy Bast piece that has a serious amount of hand finishing. Please do not confuse this with the main edition release, there are only 6 of these this heavily hand finished and they were FAR more expensive then the main edition as well.
Please note that the photos are taken with iPhone, so do not do the piece full justice.
This piece would ideally need to be collected, but I can discuss possible courier transfer at buyers expense.
Altogether this piece cost me over £1k and for a rare heavily hand finished Bast it is worth that as well. I will take offers on this, but don't expect a reply if you low ball me.

It's a complicated subject as a lot of framers use a tape that states acid free on the box but will damage the art still. I have removed the tape I use from the back of prints with no problems. I opened a print up yesterday for someone that had been framed by a local company and was amazed at the poor standard.
Just not worth entertaining pre framed for me unless it's dog cheap.

I thought you could get it off with the correct solution and not mark the print. Absolutely it can be reversed with zero damage... I know for a fact because I watched Pauli Frames take it out the original frame, use de-ionised water and patience to gently remove it from the original backing. They did this in front of me with absolute confidence because sound framing was used and showed me the result, zero damage I could see. They then reframed for me using same conservation techniques and Japanese hinges.... I used these guys on this piece because I was staying down the road at the time, but I only ever use a few framers and all know what they're doing very well. |

This is more about the framers being used then... See your point but a framing trail is as much of a must as provenance in my opinion. |

Even with some residue from the tape being removed from the previous job it does not hurt the paper, image, price, etc.
I have never got a condition report from auction that says "NO tape reside on back" It only describes the stuff that matters, the image.

It can actually be more economical and convenient to buy framed pieces I want on the wall for me personally, I don't see it as a downside if the framing is well done by a reputable framer.... If it's not a framer I know or trust then I definitely would think twice now.
