Where to stay in London?, by stefan123 on Nov 28, 2013 15:32:20 GMT 1, Hi!
We (girlfriend, little daughter and me) want to travel 3 weeks through the southwest of england next august. At the end of this period, we want to spend 4 nights in London. At the moment I´m searching after an accommodation for this nights. I don´t want to spend more than 500 Pounds!!!!!! Ideally, we have more than one room available. Our daughter is 2 1/2 years old and usually sleeps a 8 p.m. So a second room would be nice to watch TV, read or do whatever...
I just checked some hotels (e.g. MyHotel), but it´s impossible to get two rooms for this money.
So maybe someone of you has a hint for us?
- Is it possible (a good idea) to get a holiday flat, or is this very extraordinary in London? - What´s a cool district? Not too far away from the centre?
Thanks a lot for your help!!!!
Stefan

Thanks a lot for your help!!!! Stefan This might give you a bit of an idea. The site sometimes has great deals, staying in homes that people rent out. www.airbnb.co.uk/s/London?neighborhoods%5B%5D=The+West+End Various prices for different areas in London.
Some are real homes, some are flats that companies own and rent. Either way check feedback left.

Where to stay in London?, by JAlternatión on Nov 28, 2013 19:50:55 GMT 1, I'll wait to get shot down for this, but I'd try to stay on the north side of the river - you'll find the majority of tourist things to do are on that side, and whilst the underground is easy to use it's more of a pain with a 2-3 year old with you, so you probably want to try to avoid using it too much. This site is pretty good for finding apartments for hire for holidays - as said above, the reviews are king here: www.homeaway.co.uk
In terms of "cool districts", you're probably looking at Shoreditch/Hoxton/Islington/Old Street/Brick Lane - there's a LOT of street art around there and it's pretty "hip". London cab are pretty expensive so I'd probably try to be relatively near to a tube station for getting to places and back home.
Hope that helps - I imagine someone will come on with totally different advice, but you'll have a blast - it's a great city.

Where to stay in London?, by kfroms on Dec 5, 2013 15:13:22 GMT 1, What about Soho? Is it still a nice place to stay? Not sure if it ever was a nice place to stay - it can be fun for a night out, thats for sure. Hotel wise you wont be lucky. Few Hotels, all expensive.
Generally your 500gbp for 4 nights put you either in a not nice Hotel or you need to look outside the most central areas. And when browsing the web be aware that some hotels are still marketing their rooms without VAT ( 20% at the moment! )
Good luck.

You'll find Earls court, Kensington and the surrounding areas cheaper then just buy a tube oasis for the day. Well located on Piccadilly line so easy to move around still regarded as central about 5 miles from the centre. But basically just stay near a tube station. Then you have easy access and transport

Where to stay in London?, by Hubble Bubble on Dec 6, 2013 9:06:59 GMT 1, Most of my work is done in Soho (no gags please) and it's an incredibly vibrant part of London. Oxford Street and Regent Street with their shopping are close by, as is Leicester Square for movies. Charing X Road has superb book stores (large and small) and Covent Garden is but a stone's throw away. You're also close(ish) to Green Park/Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square is close by so the National Portrait Gallery is on your radar. Lazarides have their outlets just north and south of Oxford Street. Mayfair is just to the west with some extremely high end galleries. Shaftesbury Avenue plus all the other West End theatre is right on your doorstep… well, you get the picture… there's a lot going on!
I just checked booking.com . Leicester Square Premier Inn (I think they're always reasonable) has limited availability, checking in Friday 22nd and checking out Tuesday 26th August. Quadruple (family) room is £572. This is with FREE cancellation, too… so you can simply reserve it.
I honestly don't think you can do much better than that in central London for position and reliability.
