I'm free to ask what I want and the buyer is free to buy what he want. Do we operate with fixed price on the second hand marked? In that case I did not receive the circular.
This was of course intended to be a PM and a starting point for a negotiation.

WTB DOT DOT DOT NAPOLEON, by Gunny on Dec 2, 2013 17:32:42 GMT 1, Bought a DOT DOT DOT Napolean from one of the good guys on the forum today. He advertised it for sale, i paid for it and coverered the fees and then after the ebay sale and the talk on the forum tonight, this is the reply i get
Hi David, Sorry! I've issued you a refund because i've changed my mind about the DDD. I know its a bit s**tty ... well very s**tty infact and I genuinely feel bad about it. It was supposed to part fund my Howard Hodgkin print purchase but i've found i've got enough cash without selling the DDD to cover it. I want and will get MFM to frame it soon. In recompense I will offer you my Faile VNA 23 LE completely free of charge if you'd like it. Once again really sorry!
I will not out him, however iwill say that it does not matter who the person is or how long they have been on the forum, greed will always kick in. Especially as it was only released a couple of weeks back. Anyway, i am bitter because i thought i had a deal, however i am pleased to know that practicaly everyone on this forum will renage on deal if they see the opportunity for more! Thats the way it goes! night all, xx

WTB DOT DOT DOT NAPOLEON, by Happy Shopper on Dec 2, 2013 18:15:38 GMT 1, Well, I can understand it... if you suddenly realise you massively undersold something, or just realise you don't want to sell it... you don't have to.
To be honest, if I thought I'd bought something at a bargain price, knowing it was sold on eBay for far more, I'd feel more guilty than if I was on the other end, backing out of the deal!
We all know things get sold and resold, so I don't feel there's any real shame in backing out of a deal and making a little extra down the line...
Not that I've done it myself...

I guess that's why people ask for offers rather than stating a price on items they're selling

WTB DOT DOT DOT NAPOLEON, by Ruggs on Dec 2, 2013 20:35:37 GMT 1, The person gunny is referring to is me. For what's its worth a do feel a complete arse about it, totally wrong and something i've never done before. If I may though, i've had a list of items for sale recently, most of which I have now sold and the items will be winging there way to their happy new owners within the next day or so. The reason for selling the items in the first place was to free up some cash in order to purchase a new screen print called 'Ice' by Sir Howard Hodgkin via Counter Editions. What I realised this afternoon is that I had actually secured sufficient funding to afford the purchase and in fact didn't need to sell the Dot Dot Dot. I subsequently refunded the money back to gunny and the PM explanation as posted above. It absolutely wasn't driven by greed, screen print going up in value or anything like that. I did originally list it as being for sale as a last resort option. I genuinely really like and wanted to keep it but unfortunately in order to buy other art I have to move much loved artworks on. I have offered gunny my VNA 23 LE for free as recompense and that offer still stands. I'll go on record here and say a very sincere apologies to gunny, I have been a complete pillock and in future I will give very, very careful consideration before advertising on here. Along with my new acquisition I intend to get the Dot Dot Dot framed in the new year.

WTB DOT DOT DOT NAPOLEON, by Warm Gun on Dec 2, 2013 21:00:42 GMT 1, Ruggs, at times your life must consist of nothing but constant soul aching emotional discomfort and heart renching turmoil judging by the amount of 'much loved' newly acquired art works you've actually, and I'm sure so very sadly, have had to depart with on here after buying them. I just don't know how you've stayed so strong over the years. Maybe very very careful consideration would be better applied to your decision making process pre buy, then all this tragic heart ache could be avoided, then again it is fucking handy that the value shot up over night. Every cloud has a silver lining eh?

WTB DOT DOT DOT NAPOLEON, by Ruggs on Dec 2, 2013 21:21:44 GMT 1, I've said my peace above warmgum. I'm big enough and ugly enough to come on here and admit I messed up and tried to be as transparent as possible in my explanation. Not getting into a slanging match with you or anyone else. I f**ked up, admitted i'm an arse and offered a sincere apology. I'll take the forthcoming insults on the chin, get up and brush myself off. I know you're not a fan, so if you would like to continue insulting me feel free to PM me pal.

WTB DOT DOT DOT NAPOLEON, by Press Play on Dec 2, 2013 22:38:35 GMT 1, Ok, so let me get this straight. Did the value "shot up over night" because I demanded £600 for my print? Did you see anyone accepting it? If I come back tomorrow and demand £1000, do the price shot up again?
Sellers demand != market value

No one is paying £600 pounds for an AP DDD, when you paid only £250 for it less than 3 weeks ago. AND there is one for sale on the board for £380. Yes, please do raise your price to £1K and continue to let it stay in the tube collecting dust.
Your logic is redonk, as is your asking price of £600.
As for Ruggs, if you read the DDD Napoleon release thread, he was all about the print even before it was released. He backed out of a sale for something he discovered he didn't need to sell. No big deal. There are many of these Napoleon prints to go around, no need to think that his actions are your endgame.
Good grief folks, get it together.

Context or not, only an unaware idiot would pay your £600 asking price. The end.

It's seems that some people need a 101 on how to negotiate. If I started with the price I actually wanted I may end up with lower than that.
