walmart selling knock-off banksy's, by Prescription Art on Dec 3, 2013 16:40:43 GMT 1, It looks like the same kind of tat that amazon have been selling for years.
They open their sites to third party retailers, and don't monitor too much what goes up there.

Hence the inappropriate fancy dress costumes recently - Jimmy Saville and the really offensive "mental patient".

walmart selling knock-off banksy's, by treweman on Dec 4, 2013 14:02:31 GMT 1, Sorry for disagreeing with the majority, but who cares? I thought the point of street art was to share art with the masses. Anyone who is going to pay $25 for a Banksy reproduction (clearly marked as such) probably isn't the same person who is willing to drop many thousands of dollars for a print or six figures or more for an original. And the more people that can own a Banksy image, the more he/she becomes a cultural icon. And just stop all the silly talk of law suits. By painting images on walls (often illegally), the artist has by definition tried to guarantee that art is a public good, not a private one. I would be both impressed and amused if several million Invader inspired tile pieces appeared on streets all over the world, or several million people bought Banksy inspired rat stencils and spray painted rat images on walls all over the world. Ah, but the difference, you say, is that Walmart might make money off of Banksy. Right, the airlines and hotels and restaurants and owners of businesses didn't make money for the 30 days that Banksy visted NYC. The aurhors and publishers of books about street art and Banksy haven't made any money. The flippers on this forum who bought low and have been selling hight haven't made any money off of Banksy. In the end, the more people who get to enjoy Banksy's art, the better.

Drop us your postal address and we'll send you a copy of "Destroy Capitalism" . Defending Walmart on a Banksy forum. Or in any public space for that matter. LMAO
