On The Streets - 10 Most Notable Animal Themed Pieces, by HangUp on Dec 15, 2013 19:20:53 GMT 1, With 2013 nearly gone, we have decided to split the usual weekly art review into a few parts so we can feature all the worthy walls from around the globe. This week's special edition of 'On the Streets' is dedicated to all the pieces with focus on the animal kindgom. Leading off our roundup is Phlegm with this playful new mural 'Urban Foxes' in Sheffield. Completed all in signature monochrome, the work stands out with its delicate lines and plasticity of the characters. Other notable works come from Aryz in Madagascar, DALEast, ROA, Chad Hasegawa - all in Wynwood, Miami; Vinz Feel Free- Valencia, JAZ, REKA One and Nychos- Miami.

We have been following the work of Chinese -born artist DALEast for a while now and his newest addition to the Wynwood's walls is a sheer delight. Renowned for the scale and intricate details of his pieces, DAL does not disappoint again. Take a look for yourselves.
It's been a while since we last saw anything new from globe-trotting ROA, therefore we were quite happy to see that he is back on the streets painting. The result - Miami gets its very own armadillo. We love it!

On The Streets - 10 Most Notable Animal Themed Pieces, by bucky on Dec 16, 2013 15:20:20 GMT 1, Haha, you guys should start doing some research instead of only thinking to get published on Huff Post. The piece from DALeast was from last year, makes your look like amateurs.

I like Roa's work, but he's not pushing his style enough for me. Black and white animals, great.

I like Roa's work, but he's not pushing his style enough for me. Black and white animals, great. "pushing his style" "pushing his style".. not sure why that sentence always annoys me. His works about a concept, substance over style maybe, though also technically excellent. Not always pretty but neither is his subject matter.

I certainly wasn't trying to annoy you, it's my view on his work. I have the same thoughts regarding Phlegm at he moment. No disrespect to the artists, I've just been disappointed by their progress. As for substance over style, meh. It's a picture of an animal so I don't think it's a valid argument. There's no message I can see, he's not painting indigenous species or endangered animals and bringing their plight into public focus. It's a picture of an animal, in black and white, still.
Again, just my thoughts and please try not to let it annoy you again, life's to short.

As i say, i like his work, i just don't think he's 'pushing his style' and i dont agree that his work has done anything you state above.... Just my opinion mate, feel free to get annoyed and tell me i'm wrong/not thinking it through all day long. If it makes you feel better then thats great for you.
Anyway, all the best.

On The Streets - 10 Most Notable Animal Themed Pieces, by stvro22 on Dec 30, 2013 6:55:28 GMT 1, I gotta go with Saint on this one. ROA is extremely talented but time to evolve. Okay they're large anatomically correct near-extinct animals. We get it. Then again he's far from the only one riding out a style.
