JR was recently invited by the New York City Ballet to create a large-scale art installation, in collaboration with the dancers of the Company, for their 2014 Art Series.
His work will be on view at three special New York City Ballet Art Series performances on January 23rd, February 7th and February 13th, where all tickets are priced at $29, and all audience members will receive a limited edition commemorative piece.
Performances will go on sale to the public on January 6th, however, JR's friends and followers have access to a special allotment of seats (limit 4/performance) for advance purchase starting now, through this Sunday January 5th at 12PM (EST), using the special code 99PRINTS on nycballet.com/artseries .

JR NY Ballet - Limited Edition piece for audience, by maddoghoek100 on Feb 8, 2014 8:07:24 GMT 1, The takeaway was a scale model of the whole installation. I think it was difficult to take in the work that they did to transform the space. Much of the work was on the outside of the building, the work inside had to be seen from high above to really put in context. So the instructions were to go to the 4th floor balcony to view the work. The takeway was an attempt to capture the full scope of the event in a pocket sized item for under a dollar. I think it is successful on that front. Will it flip, i dont know. Will it be a great reminder of a nice event, definitely.
JR was also signing and personalizing them, which was very nice. took a moment to really meet anyone who asked for a sig.

Faile may have set the standard with their art takeaway, but as NYC is their home they had to. JR being a photographer makes his art takeaway a bit more difficult. There is a nice poster for sale featuring the big eye, I'm assuming he'll be at this Thursday's final performance as he was at the first two and if so I may try to get it signed.
