OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by Lroy on May 17, 2016 20:12:35 GMT 1, Why to talk about this print ?! It's a shame ! You are buying now blind prints ? As rich wankers sniffing glue in a party and telling the guests that it is coke at its best ! The problem with the print market, and street-art is That , now, they - a certain bunch of critics, pr, collectors and curators - want to copy the established art market ( able to fill a museum - Banksy did it anyway, lol ) , the same that was denounced by most of earliest vandals : Stik at Cristies, Banksy at Bonhams etc .. Ouh la la la, what a scoop ! Kkk..
Now, we - the people - have to quit this ephemeral art planet : prints and street-art will belong to those that can buy blind prints, all the game is already done and the dice are loaded : you, we, us, can use F5 all the night if you - where was you at the party ? - want it, prints are all reserved before the random time, are going pricey, and without any view, of what you will buy ?! La surprise du chef ! To make laugh all these boring rich mocking us as in a bad, boring and tacky movie.
This is maybe a kind of art. This is not graffiti nor street-art. How " 99 prints " have dared to copy - taking the name - one of the best inventive and alternative music labels of the 80, 99 records ? Only frustrated French or sniffing baba glue hipsters could do that ! Respect. This is rubbish. As for JR and others. No respect.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by Deleted on May 17, 2016 20:15:24 GMT 1, Hmmm let's see ... A Gemeos for $6500 that I can't see, a Miaz Brothers b&w gaussian blur nightmare or a Pejac regurgitated Paco Pomet. What an absolute pathetic sad state of affairs. As I have said before, the bar has been lowered to such a degree that pieces like this are even considered. The fact that any "art" would require it to be purchased before one seeing it is a true slap in the face and goes against everything a visual art is about. That is NOT art, it's a fan club in a cult of blind followers. Truly sad..of course imo. I'm just curious, who said anyone was actually buying this thing blindly without seeing it ?

People not in the loop will panic buy tomorrow once it drops without looking at the image and the price for the fear of losing out.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by Dungle on May 17, 2016 20:33:19 GMT 1, Why is everyone pissing and moaning about the price and not seeing the image?!
If you could sell something for 6k would you sell it for 1k? No. Loads of people can't afford it, get over it.
As for not seeing the image?! It is clearly a classic OS image featuring a yellow figure. Given there lack of output they clearly have at least 99 follows who will buy at this price.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by BKBOI on May 17, 2016 20:44:19 GMT 1, This will sell out quickly.... then 25% of the run will get resold immediately or after several months. The twins will be disappointed again and they will say that no more print releases moving forward. They will come back after 2 years with a new print and charge double the cost of the last print release. I totally understand now why the world is round.

Dungle, my post wasn't intended as a moan, and I'm sorry if it came across as such. It was intended as a letting off of steam, fuelled by a modicum of anger. I'm of course well aware that they can sell for whatever price they want, that it's to stop flippers, and all the other arguments. But I remain of the view that they can sell originals to a Q of wealthy investors and if they are not already very comfortable, they could be quite easily. A print edition is a chance for them to let the common man (though even at a few hundred quid that's a stretch) share in their art. I did also acknowledge that my post was no doubt naive. But it wasn't a moan.
Edit- and good luck to them being comfortable. They have the talent and have put in the graft.

I find it very hard to believe anyone that isn't aware of the work of Os Gemeos and their market will drop over 5000gbp on a panic buy. There was a huge amount of traffic on the last release and they were still relatively easy to pick up considering there was only 99, and that was at 3.5k. They're priced to reflect the current market and flippers know there's no quick buck to be earned on them. 'The other side' was priced perfectly and you could pick one up on secondary around the release price for at least a year. If you want one of these prints then you will be able to get one, no problem. Sorry Ling, but thats totally false. These things were about 10kUSD for months after. I watched closely, because I was shocked they sold that many that fast at such a high price.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by davievegas on May 17, 2016 20:59:43 GMT 1, Personally I dont understand the appeal. They make killer walls. The last print was not interesting at all and I would never spend thousands of dollars on a yellow person/character. I would rather spend it in a banksy or kaws.
Its one thing to buy art from an artist you know will hold value and people know of across the world, but its another to buy something that wouldnt make my wall EVER. Yes, people across the world know OS Gemoes but they are not banksy. I imagine plenty US buyers would have no idea who they are unless they are die hard fans.
Its worth noting that paying $6k to just hold into in hopes it goes up over time is not everyones luxury. GL to people rolling the dice on this one. Thats a expensive piece of paper.

Can those common men afford prints by Hirst and Koons ? Its all relative, and just because I can't buy it doesnt mean that the price is not making it "more accessible" than their original art.

No reason for me to lie - I own the print and remember seeing loads pop up for about 18 months. I remember a bunch bouncing around for 4500-5000 pounds, when it printed for 4k Euro or something like that. Either way... I do agree that this thing will not be some kind of huge bargain, so for 6k I would think someone better love it.

Not directed at you mate. Just seemed that every post was questioning price and image.
The world we live in now regarding 'street art' is that it has become a money making world. While I don't have 6k to drop on a print at the moment, the twins are right to charge every penny they can cos if they don't you can be sure there will be thousands of flippers lining up to line their own pockets. I'd much rather the money went to the artists rather than some numpty sitting behind a computer bashing F5 with the hope of making a few quid.
Why is everyone pissing and moaning about the price and not seeing the image?! If you could sell something for 6k would you sell it for 1k? No. Loads of people can't afford it, get over it. As for not seeing the image?! It is clearly a classic OS image featuring a yellow figure. Given there lack of output they clearly have at least 99 follows who will buy at this price. I believe an artist can and should charge whatever they want for their work they have put their efforts into. I'd rather see them reap all the reward for their skill rather than paying a middleman.
But asking why would someone want to SEE artwork before they pay for it is not really a strange question regardless of the price. I happen to put effort into making my money as well.
