I can only imagine people are simply joking, or are trying to add fuel the instant flip market.
I understood that the twins hadn't released a print before now (Nos Somos Penta aside) as they didn't like the greed which came with it. Reading some of this thread, I can understand why!

There street artist an surely most of there love comes from the street and not galleries and selling stuff so why would they care about the £££. This is not their first print. They released one back in 2005 or 2006.

Apparently Nosco Gallery teweted it was going to be €5000. Maybe someone saw how much people are willing to pay and thought more money can be made so the price went up.

A canvas print is a totally different way of printing, usually by a digital method. I suppose not dissimilar to a Giclee print in many ways. Printed from a digital file.
Where as a screenprint or in this case serigraph is a much harder, more skillful and long winded method of printing one colour at a time, so much more sought after.
There are rumours that printed canvas edition was a lot smaller run than the 1001 stated, not sure if all of them ever saw the light of day.

They just have never released any signed prints. Very long time considering how long they hve been around and how established they are (and how good their work is) I'm not surprised on the excitement. Thanks for this explanation! May I know how much their canvases usually costs? Regarding to the price-speculations here, clearly over 20k???

I was at the print atelier today and can confirm the 5k price tag.
I can also confirm that these lithograph are old school printed on 90yo printing press, using engraved stones... This is super high quality work made by a bunch of very skilled people. Quality is in another league compared to offset litho/screenprints...
And the picture is not the one shown earlier on this forum... But it's getting close  )
That said, it's going to be nearly impossible to get one IMHO.... :hanging:

For example I am aware of Chuck Close print releases that release cost was $16K and even up to $60K. Not all prints are meant for the masses clearly the Twins separate their fine art customers from their street art fans. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, I actually appreciate their fair market valuation of their work.

There are many other more overall established top international artists who release prints at a much lower level. Just because they rarely release prints shouldn't automatically escalate their "status" to such high level.
They are possibly my favourite "street" artists. Please don't get me wrong. I respect and value them highly. And I understand it could be demand that drives up prices. I just somehow feel 4-5k level is disproportionately high.
