The side said it failed and I tried again with paypal (different card). That went through fine, and it shows payment with paypal, not AmEx on my order history.

Good question. I love the image because when I've gone Os Gemeos hunting (mainly in Italy and Brazil) many of the images i've found are similar with the characters coming out of the wall. Is it my favourite image? Probably not. But how many people are now parting with 10-15k for a CYW which in my opinion is one of the worst images banksy has every produced. there's value in who the artist is certainly but as other have alluded to, the scarcity also bumped up this price.
I would say your argument works for (or against) banksy as well but is very rarely talked about. I think the reason there's so much backlash on this thread and surprise at the price is a lot of new members don't know the twins like they know Banksy (or even truly 'hot at the moment' artists like Phlegm, Dal, Dotdotdot, etc).

I happen to follow the work of twins for years, so the quality of info, statements and opinions some of you are posting here, is shocking! I definitely need to keep that in mind when Im reading about an artist who Im not that familiar with just so I don't get a completely wrong and false image of the actual situation.
I will have to keep this thread in mind as a reference for how much bulls**t can people can write on this board!

This sold out because there is a market for it even at that price. Flipping on ebay is a good sign of a healthy market. I just wonder why they have not announced the price and showed the image from the beginning if there is a market for it and this price is normal. If the print sold at this price is just for the collaboration with banksy and because they had never done other prints in the past. If they do not want to bring down the price of this print surely they can not do others prints in the next years saw the price at which they have sold this one, because as soon as they will make another print this idea of uniqueness will vanish. For Those excited about the collaboration with banksy I remind you that Mr Brainwash has an entire movie shot in collaboration with Banksy
