Luckily, the merchant had sympathy for me and gave me a further refund for the difference. Good luck in resolving the issue.

If an average person would actually visit this site, they would actually think that all of us are crazy for spending this much money on a limited edition poster... even the entry level 45 dollar Obey poster.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by Deleted on Feb 3, 2014 7:05:29 GMT 1, The people of Brazil receive plenty of art for free in the streets where the twins paint. Its obvious this print was directed at the collectors, the galleries and in some shape or form, its there way of introducing themselves into the print market. They have done a number of collabos with Nike and other major corporations havent they? They have published how many books with photos of there art? They were part of a number of high profile shows and exhibits. So there art has been made available to the public to see and enjoy but this was made for a different audience. Im excited to see whats to come. your point being ? this is a top down movement like any other only they paint in the street ? and the poor are blessed with some colour in the favelas and bits of corporate tat.... now it's rich people time ;-) I think you may have your head on upside down.
peace

I'm simply defending those "fans" who think this was a bad release for various reasons. But yeah, I can see we differ, "let them get theirs" "yours" "mine" etc is a bit of a shrink wrapped US import philosophy and not usually one associated with street art, which is traditionally based on "selfless" rather than "selfish" principles.
But it's cool, I think a €4k "street art" print is fundamentally wrong. Others think it's fine. No big deal.

No more so than any other creative or artistic endeavour hey, and probably a lot less than we on this board imagine, there are literally thousands and thousands of unknowns placing work on the street without having money as a motivating factor. Remember when artists we now admire and collect were criticised for attempting to profit from street art by putting out a print.. lol.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by iamzero on Feb 3, 2014 9:14:04 GMT 1, When I had a refund difference with one of the Faile prints I contacted Barlclaycard and told them I thought it was bad policy and the paid up straight away no problem.
Had one of these in the cart in double quick time and was gonna flip it unashamedly but just couldn't pull the trigger. Fair play for knowing your market value and making a shed load of cash but a kick in the teeth for fans I reckon. Aimed squarely at galleries and investors like the recent Kaws box. Street art... Not anymore. Just an opinion though.

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by Deleted on Feb 3, 2014 9:34:07 GMT 1, Was this purchased or was this something they did for you on the fly maybe at an event or something? Just wondering as I do not see this having any provenance other than someones word there fore rendering it of little to no value to soemones insured collection.
This was PURCHASED at a show, at a gallery who SOLD it. The provenance is from the gallery who represents them in Sao Paulo. Hope that clears up any confusion for you, or do you still think paperwork from the gallery itself isnt good enough for you?

OS Gemeos 🇧🇷 São Paulo Graffiti • Brazil Street Art, by saint on Feb 3, 2014 9:53:38 GMT 1, Things seem to have calmed down on this thread.. Was the price point too high for Os Gemeos fans ? yes, without a doubt, it's a few months wages for most Brazillians and far in excess of any other print release EVER released and discussed on here. Was the edition size too little for a first release ? From a fans perspective, again, yes, without a doubt, a thousand at €400 would have made more sense. Was this targeted at the fine and contemporary art set ? yes, without a doubt. Does that piss off a few/many of their street level fans ? yes, should it ? Not sure. Do I really give a s**t ? No, not anymore. The scene has developed this way. Good luck to them. Would I have given a s**t 6 or 7 years ago ? absolutely. Power to the People. Italians, Greeks, Spaniards, Central Europeans.. all coming at street art from a much more anarchistic background and history to the UK and US scenes. From a "street" "leftist" "keeping it real" perspective, the release sucked. I think that's Petrusino's point. And from that perspective, he's absolutely right. There are still more than a few anti capitalist street art fans on this board who are as likely to don a bandana or balaclava of a weekend as they are their weekends finest for some swanky sponsored art opening. peace
I reckon the last time anyone on here put on a balaclava it was during a ski trip to Verbier.

They've done plenty of art in the streets for free, to promote there beliefs and do what they love. Let them get theirs, your getting yours with the festivals arent you? Now I know why this print is called " The Other Side " It seems to bring out the other side of people on this forum. Peace Don't get me wrong. I'm a big Os Gemeos fan. I don't think many fans of the twins thought this. Sure some did. But it's people like Petrusino who have no knowledge of the twins, have no sense of their shared history that bash the print just for shits and giggles that i think annoyed many people here.
I still think that argument 'hey i'm so street, i know what's up in the street art world' comes off as entitled and more exclusive than the folks you're railing against. Especially coming from someone who makes their living selling Norwegian street art canvasses.

Excluding from the purchase the 95% of your fans?! Let's stop here please.
