Framing advice for personalised drawing , by chads007 on Jan 23, 2014 14:30:11 GMT 1, Thinking of getting a drawing framed which is signed bottom right and dedicated bottom left. Not dedicated to myself though!
Was going to window mount with like a triangular section bottom left to conceal the name. But the drawing has detail which virtually touches the left side of the paper so any window mount will cover this unfortunately I think.
Should i just float mount the thing with the name of the seller showing? It's not big, but is noticeabe. Guess the centre piece is the drawing & one that I like so maybe the dedication is irrelevant?

Black ink pen.
Take to the framers in the next wk or 2 & not sure how to go about it...window mount with triangular section which covers name but also detail, or float & have the whole thing on show :s

Framing advice for personalised drawing , by chads007 on Feb 5, 2014 11:08:13 GMT 1, Anymore ideas? Think my options are now float mount without any modifications, float mount but have the name neatly spliced out leaving a gap on the corner, or float mount but have a small piece of museum board cut to simply cover the name

I wouldn't want the paper & museum board joined with p90, so guess will need to check if it would be ok having the glass pressing the museum board over the name which would alleviate the need for taping on the front paper

option 2, you could always scan the item and photoshop the dedication out, make a high quality inject print of it, put the print in a stock frame, and file the original away. Have a sketch dedicated to me and an ex right in the middle. i went that route. I know i have the original and the printout looks great.

I would just embrace it as part of the work. Dedications can also add to the interest—and even value— of a piece because it introduces a personal element from the artist. Just accept it.

Framing advice for personalised drawing , by chads007 on Feb 5, 2014 21:44:11 GMT 1, It's a drawing by dran, one of the best I've seen. I know he personalised many quite obviously in speech bubbles etc, so this is a bit more subtle being in the corner. Think I'm leaning towards just leaving the dedication & floating. Will post the results
