OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by summoner on Feb 16, 2014 20:03:43 GMT 1, Just to play devils advocate here, for all those that are saying "there is no way this could be Banksy", I have a question... What makes you so certain that it is not?
I am not saying that it is, as like everyone else I do not know, but with that said doesn't that make it still a possibility (however so very slim of a possibility) that it "could" be?
Just looking at the facts, the style is pretty dead on the Banksy, the sig has some close resemblances to his as well. As for if it is JBoy or JPS, I do think that based on the evidence it is clearly neither of them. JBoy is riding the coattails of this release to get some un-needed attention and has show not a single piece of new evidence (other that was GP has released) of them being involved with this. Even the hand written note that was posted using the word "Outis" was not written with the same hand that the prints were signed in.
Who is to say that Banksy did not want to release something that just anyone could buy. I mean, it is not like he has never put his work up for sale at a crazy low price and made it available to anyone walking by on the street right?
So in short, if you are saying "there is no way on this earth this is a Banksy, what makes you so positive, or is it more that you HOPE that it is not a Banksy and you missed it?

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by gorkie on Feb 16, 2014 20:05:51 GMT 1, This is all a social experiment.
And like it or not we are all the rats.
Every time we post in a thread about it we are like a rat in the maze looking for the reward.
If you really want to show your displeasure with any of this just don't partake in any of it.
Literally just stop. It's not rocket science.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by gatecrasher on Feb 16, 2014 20:06:43 GMT 1, it is not Banksy, it never was, non-one who knows anything seriously thought it was EVER (after the very first limited speculation). The first posts in this thread are not about if this is or is not Banksy. They are about is this marketing practice deceptive and if so how deceptive is it. Who the artist is is irrelevant and always has been. The marketing scheme an artist used has always been the issue. The way out has nothing to do with Banksy This threads obviously moved on from just the simple £90 print it was about but you seem to have this pure view about how galleries and art is sold.
How do you feel about the glimpses of a piece of art building up to its release ? Just a couple of taster pics of hmm say a cartoon character coming out of a wall ? Then maybe give people a second to buy it for €4000 or miss out.
Both are marketing practices that could be called shady but this is what people seem to want.
GP is a business with bills and a mortgage to pay so I think he gets to decide how he earns his money. The way some people are carrying on here, he should be apologising for the crucifixion and world hunger as well as trying to make enough money to keep releasing art that (some) people want to hang.
Has the release been spoilt by speculation ? Of course it has ... we all buy lottery tickets.
Has it spoilt this "scene" that so many people talk about ? Guys, for most of you, that died with Banks's last print release. Read "American Gods" sometime.
Artbysix does need to do the middle of the elephant though.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Mordecai on Feb 16, 2014 20:08:58 GMT 1, G, i agree, i think the original image was worth a chuckle, but i think the pricing was more fitting of an established name. I give you a ton of credit, which is why i don't think you are really ok with this. This was a low dollar item, but there are plenty of higher dollar items on sale thought GP. That said, my point is still that they gallery is 100% in the wrong on this issue and should not have proceeded with this release. I think this is bad press that will hang around their neck for a long time to come. IT will hurt any artist that chooses to deal with them. Maybe it will only hurt a little. Maybe it will hurt a lot. Only time will tell, but it is hard to defend them or their position on this. I understand they know how to print and ship a print. So i hope they are able to right the ship. If they want to have a sterling reputation and work with top flight talent this is not the way to do it. If they ant to make a few bucks this tutorial is both humorous and instructional: www.artbusiness.com/faketutorial.htmlMaybe you are not giving me enough credit as to how many brain cells I have in my head or maybe I need to be more clear. Lol. I wouldn't spend a lot of money on something by "Outis" not knowing who or what is behind all of it. But would I spend a little bit on a print image I liked? Yes. The amount of money I paid for this print has been worth every penny just for all of this hoopla. It's been entertaining to say the least (at least to me).
I think you are totally wrong. This doesnt huet their reputation one little inch

This is by Outis tho different rules? PoW and PC would perhaps be defeating the object of the exercise...

So it was pest control selling Banksy canvas' in New York was it? I don't remember that sign on the stall. I am 99.99% sure this is not him but prob some other already established artist but let's see.

I can agree it does say that, but this was a release by "OUTIS" and not "Banksy". This would go along the lines of releasing something by him, without tying officially back to him at the time of release.
GP has quickly become a leading gallery for urban/graffiti art that have been releasing quite a few some big names. Is it so hard to believe that they would have been a good choice, so it was not released by POW, to get this out there if it were Banksy? Unfortunately, it is not "end of story".
Just to play devils advocate here, for all those that are saying "there is no way this could be Banksy", I have a question... It says very clearly on the pest control site that pest control is the sole point for banksy artworks. pc is pow. End of story. End of story. So it was pest control selling Banksy canvas' in New York was it? I don't remember that sign on the stall. I am 99.99% sure this is not him but prob some other already established artist but let's see. Banksy was selling it himself, pest control is his agent and sole distributer (pow).
Am i talking to collectors here or 5 year olds

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by gorkie on Feb 16, 2014 20:20:55 GMT 1, Do you really believe that the only place on earth that you can buy a Banksy work on the primary market is through POW?
That is simply not true and that is all I am going to say about this.
So in a sense I will "be quiet".

Well I am not five I have been posting on here for more than 5 years...all I am saying is that you saying it's only pest control that sells banksy work is clearly not true....but i also think this is not banksy either and that if anything it will turn out to be another artist from the past but given how this has blown up I don't think we will ever know. If it's some noob I would expect another release soon to cash in. If in 6 months there are no more outis prints then maybe we can speculate some more about it being banksy as surely if it's him it would just be a one off? So what everyone needs to show is some patience but that is always lacking in this forum
