OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by My Name is Frank on Feb 17, 2014 11:58:23 GMT 1, This keeps running. It's extremely unlikely to be banksy, the reasoning is, A it is not well enough executed, B why would you release a print that is inferior to your usual quality, C if banksy were to release something under a mystery guise, would it not be in a different style to his known look?
Jps would be my bet, he has form, the stencil sty

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Deleted on Feb 17, 2014 12:51:33 GMT 1, Im also guessing this is JPS up to idiocy again. But even if thats wrong, the whole thing of if you remove the brand etc, is clearly just a devious attempt to make sales by trying to align it to Banksy!! Whom if he were to want to release a sneaky print, would probably not play such a stupid game with his fan base!! Nothing against you GP, always seemed a good guy! But i think this release was a misjudgement. But i accept you most likely didn't realise the stupidity the artist was entering into. He has never aligned himself to banksy though apart from the rat in the picture the other guy posted that stuff, I can see why you take the quote as something to do with banksy but it could apply to the clothing trade whatever. It's only after the guy posting new banksy that it got taken in that context! Think he probably just meant it about the world of brands in general which applies to art as well. I will always take a risk on unknown artists if I like there pictures that's what we set out to do in the first place. I wouldn't worry about Banksy.
It's not as if he owns the copyright on rats anyway.
Blek did rats on walls way before Banksy came along.
I agree there are lots of good artists out there and today many people fall for the commercially over hyped high price artists and often confuse high prices with quality.
Must be some sort of celebrity brainwashing thing going on here.

we've all done it

Like what for example?
Do you have images of anything Banksy made with his own hands as opposed to made by assistants?

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Deleted on Feb 17, 2014 13:17:17 GMT 1, an utterly tiresome flippant response, how unexpected
(with little to no meaning in terms of anything, banksy has obviously created numerous things and even if he only designed them and someone else made them, so what? totally irrelevant. You know this whole 'debate' makes me think of those who deny climate change)

are you saying Banksy painted the "home sweet home" potboiler landscape painting before painting the words "home sweet home" over it?
It's gimmicky, i'll give it that but it's low quality as far as fine art goes.

I honestly believe that the difference in quality between this print and banksy's work is quite apparent. On page two I gave the example of the horses piece at boti in October. There was no way on this earth that banksy would produce something as inspiring and shocking, with such super quality and detail, as that street piece, and then release this as a print.

The horses piece has a certain charm due to its crudeness and maybe a deliberate lack of skill. Just look at the horses and the guys arm in the car.
The Outis piece with the flowers and mousetrap hidden in the flowers looks very well done and slick.
I wouldn't call the horses and car shocking and inspiring.
Custom painters have been spraying shocking stuff on cars for décades.

Banksy Horses V Outis Elephantmouse. The Horses installation had a certain transitory feel about it for me,see it before it goes type thing, also a kind of buzz / excitement, possibly due to it being created within three hours all in and the media activity. Not my pick from the show but i see why it is others. Not knocking the print, but it is what it is.Or rather...it it is what it is not.

I agree the buzz that was created by team Banksy was to give it a transitory feel.
I think it worked with the media publicity that went along with the art pièces.
That takes a lot of money and contacts in the media.
I would imagine they painted the car inside a garage before delivering it to it's location.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by gorkie on Feb 17, 2014 16:04:04 GMT 1, I think for this social experiment to work, whoever Outis is shouldn't ever let it be known. What is the point of going through all of this only to then divulge your identity? Outis is a pseudonym for an artist who wants to hide their identity so why would you ever tell?
Also, if he/she is smart they will not release another print for quite a while. Otherwise people will argue that this is being done strictly for the cash (which I don't happen to think it is personally).
