OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Mordecai on Feb 16, 2014 16:56:23 GMT 1, I think this was a great print release Great fun reading a lot og there posta. Even if it's Banksy or not, if the print job is good, those who bought it got a good print for a low price. And now owns a print that created ALOT of debate and made several good points on what prints and brand names is about... A job well done by the artist, whoever he/she is...

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by gorkie on Feb 16, 2014 19:18:29 GMT 1, Didn't everyone buy it because they "loved the image"?? Now there`s rumours it may be a JBOY, people seem less keen. If this had appeared on the JBOY site, as a JBOY, signed by JBOY and priced at £150 everyone would have laughed at it, if it even got a mention, but because no one knows who the artist is the world goes mad. Perhaps if an artist wants to make it big they should never sign there work and stay a secret? As Outis remains a mystery, what`s to stop a gallery or anyone infact releasing another print allegedly from Outis? No-one can confirm nor deny that it is, surely this opens up the door to some serious profiteering and market manipulation. The "next" "Outis" print cannot be far away, and if "the official outis" (whoever he maybe) wants to cash in he better be quick because this bubble will burst big time very soon! Outis is the art equivalent of the animal liberation front. They have no leader, no structure as such, they are a banner under which anyone can choose to protest against animal cruelty and for their rights. Based on that, and this stunt! Any artist or complete random has as much right to use the Outis moniker as anyone else. We could see a thousand print releases from different people and id bet a fair few would be hoovered up on here. So who knows, the next outis release could be from literally anyone!! Cant wait What is stated above really isn't true.
It really isn't factual that just "anybody" can now put out a work and say they are Outis. Like it or not, Outis is now an actual entity and unless the original person affiliated with the original website confirms that something being put out there is by them then it is not an actual Outis work.
Also, GP would be able to confirm or deny that any future works were handled with/by the same individual that they dealt with prior.

Oh gp will be able to confirm! That'll be comforting fir everyone after this shit storm! However I wouldn't think gp will work with outis again somehow!! But hey who knows and that's his call.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by maddoghoek100 on Feb 16, 2014 19:33:19 GMT 1, it is not Banksy, it never was, non-one who knows anything seriously thought it was EVER (after the very first limited speculation). The first posts in this thread are not about if this is or is not Banksy. They are about is this marketing practice deceptive and if so how deceptive is it. Who the artist is is irrelevant and always has been. The marketing scheme an artist used has always been the issue. The way out has nothing to do with Banksy
The way to stop all this is for GP to say, we are sorry we participated in this nonsense. We promise not to work with the artist again. We dont condone the marketing technique used to create initial buzz for this print. We made a mistake in going forward with a release under these circumstances, and if you are unhappy with your print we are happy to issue you a refund and move along.
In all likelihood the artist is someone that no-one has ever heard of and was looking too make a splash. Graffiti Prints likely knows exactly who it is, was aware of the marketing plan and agreed to release the print because they thought the image was not bad and it would be a good chuckle. They probably thought things would not get out of hand. Im sure they felt boxed in and decided to go on the defensive, but probably should have pulled the plug once it did.
All that said, if you keep it all in perspective i do love they way some others have cashed in on the hoopla, and good on them for doing so. Anyone who can cash in on it should, by releasing prints signed by the artist formerly known as outis, or signed as AP, or who cares what. The brand OUTIS has been completely devalued (if it ever had any). Ill be hanging my Butt Hurt print proudly, and if the middle gets released at a reasonable price i might consider it as well. Love Hurts was always overpriced at 90 gbp plus shipping. Jboy claiming to be outis just to get a rise out of GP is funnier than the original gag, and GP is just silly for taking the bait and not simply saying we are 99.9% it is not Jboy.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by gorkie on Feb 16, 2014 19:39:09 GMT 1, Just my opinion, but this was a brilliant move for GP to take on this project. You can't buy this kind of press. And I really cannot understand people being all that bothered by any of this. Just makes me chuckle. It's all a game. Learn to play or take your piece off of the game board and go read a book.

im not sure you really believe this. As a guy who owns some truly amazing stuff, im sure you would be very unhappy if you found out a gallery you were dealing with on a big ticket piece is willing to engage in such a thing.
If a reputable gallery put out a piece that looked like a working living artist that was signed anonymous, im thinking you would take exception. There is nothing stopping Gagosian from releasing an unsigned print that looks a lot like a Hirst or Koons, or Murakami as an unsigned numbered print other than it would be bad form and reputation suicide. We are 99.9% sure this dot print is not a Hirst, but i cant say for sure, we just found a stack of them in a back. $1500 apiece and a bargain at that price
Maybe a bad example as hirst probably has not actually painted his own dots in some time, so an unsigned one is probably as legitimate as a signed one in a lot of ways. Heck if an assistant wanted to sell me an unsigned canvas out of the back door of the studio i would probably buy it

Maybe you are not giving me enough credit as to how many brain cells I have in my head or maybe I need to be more clear. Lol. I wouldn't spend a lot of money on something by "Outis" not knowing who or what is behind all of it. But would I spend a little bit on a print image I liked? Yes. The amount of money I paid for this print has been worth every penny just for all of this hoopla. It's been entertaining to say the least (at least to me).

Funny how the only comments from GP lately have been to come in the thread and deny Jboy now JPS is Outis. I guess protecting their stake in Outis is more important that responding to any of the concerns people have voiced over the print. That's because I can only say so many times this is a print by outis Yes then why the .01% chance still that its a banksy why not just say its 100% not banksy just like you have done with jboy and jps

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by maddoghoek100 on Feb 16, 2014 20:03:33 GMT 1, G,
i agree, i think the original image was worth a chuckle, but i think the pricing was more fitting of an established name. I give you a ton of credit, which is why i don't think you are really ok with this. This was a low dollar item, but there are plenty of higher dollar items on sale thought GP.
That said, my point is still that the gallery is 100% in the wrong on this issue and should not have proceeded with this release. I think this is bad press that will hang around their neck for a long time to come. IT will hurt any artist that chooses to deal with them. Maybe it will only hurt a little. Maybe it will hurt a lot. Only time will tell, but it is hard to defend them or their position on this. I understand they know how to print and ship a print. So i hope they are able to right the ship.
If they want to have a sterling reputation and work with top flight talent this is not the way to do it. If they want to make a few bucks this tutorial is both humorous and instructional:

Maybe you are not giving me enough credit as to how many brain cells I have in my head or maybe I need to be more clear. Lol. I wouldn't spend a lot of money on something by "Outis" not knowing who or what is behind all of it. But would I spend a little bit on a print image I liked? Yes. The amount of money I paid for this print has been worth every penny just for all of this hoopla. It's been entertaining to say the least (at least to me).
