Sure people are entitled to answers and they seem to be coming.
1) How come BNE never posted a financial disclosure of the money he allegedly raised back when he was a charity?
2) How come BNE never redesigned his website when he decided to go from being a charity to a for profit company that gives to charity? For the common man, his site still looked like a charity site.
3) How come no one asked why Charity Water? Because Charity Water has an online platform that gave him legitimacy. Without that, he would have folded. And keep in mind, BNE learned about Charity Water through me and ANIMAL. I gave them free ad space years ago, when they were first starting out. I implore you to email Scott Harrison and ask him yourself.
4) Even when he became a for profit company that gives to charity, how come the math doesn't work out on the Shepard - Uganda prints?

Dude -- You're getting a little worked up over this. I think everyone is just wondering -- Why not stop something from happening and help out, keep the charity from suffering, and keep people from being exposed to a scam, as opposed to waiting for it to happen, and blowing the entire show up after it happens...

I must admit i wasn't sure what to do in this case. I bought a shirt because it was for a great cause and i didn't mind a nice Banksy shirt. When it turned out it wasn't a Banksy and BNE was busy digging his hole i wondered if i should get my money back (a couple of times). But then BNE offered full refunds (by canceling paypal) So i gave it a thought and i choose to stick with BNE and give him the 100usd for the shirt (whatever it would be). I also donated some extra cash straight to the charity. That was all my own choice. I also think it wasn't very nice of you to post after BNE was in his hole, but you explained your actions so props for that. It would not be my choice though. |

We had to wait to see if he was actually going to pull a Banksy scam." I find this to be an odd response. I've working in newsrooms my entire adult life. This weird. They had no issues reporting the press release in the days prior. If AnimalNY posted PC's response Friday afternoon BNE would have been forced to make a statement which would have prevented this cluster-f**k. Instead by sitting on PC's email they forced Banksy to make a statement and 500+ people to question (and question in the future) a charitable contribution. Not to mention the billable hours to whatever law firm charity:water has on retainer. New York state has an attorney general with ambitions, in other words he likes headline grabbing investigations. I'd say this would qualify. Oh yeah? What newsroom have you worked for? You're so full of s**t. And if you're going to post my response, post the full response not a snippet. This place is a hotbed of innuendo, backbiting, and just the worst practices of the Internet. Ironic that the only pushback we've gotten on this story is from this forum and BNE's sock puppets. I honestly do not think that is correct.
For the most part there seems to me to have been a healthy debate about the rights and wrongs of what has happened. An inevitable part of that is that some people disagree with each other, and people have differing views.
To limp everyone together is wrong. To suggest that people who don't agree with you are dumbasses is wrong.
