Ok lets knock this on the head... Regarding costs of this print being too high ..

Low edition size = Higher costs..
High edition size = Lower costs.. Right??

Different strokes print ed100 x £195 = £19,500

New style Mondrian print ed60 x £340 = £20,400

Pretty comparable Right? Not actually that expensive... Right?? I rest my case your honor.

Does anyone really think the artist or printers make a killing off any of these releases? I don't think so

Screen printing takes a lot of time and money to produce. The people doing the pulling have to be paid. Screens, ink, equipment, paper, tubes, film etc have to be purchased. A space has to be rented. It has to be promoted. I'm assuming there are similar costs involved with antique lithography. After paying for all the materials, and paying the employees who are working for you, I don't see ANY of these releases being as lucrative as some people think

I don't think Earnest is going to be driving around in a Ferrari with the money made from selling prints. They're really just a token of appreciation to fans who can't afford his OG's, which are what pay the bills. Plus it's providing a living for the people doing the printing

I don't know the cut the artists get of sales, but I can almost guarantee they aren't as high as people think

A lot of people put work into one of these releases, and they all have to be compensated for their time. No one works for free

It'll sell out. Give it some time. This is the way a release should be. If something sells out in 30 seconds, as an artist or gallery, you've priced it wrong.

pretty comparable in numbers but does not take into account that one is produced by an epson printer and one is produced from the same machine that was used by Picasso and Matisse.

She was very jealous on my style war...i own quite a bunch of nice artworks into my collection but the Zachaveric has allways been her favorite !
She's a buzy girl and had no time to spend on hectic release so she was very happy to grab the "Composition with R B and Y"
I can't believe my eyes it doesn't sold out yet....IMO The best Ernest Zacharevic print till now !

What's the point dazarino?? Sorry to say but your last comment is just a pity! I've hardly said anything negative on this board but if you had ever read my previous comments about EZ you would have been aware that i'm a real fan and that style war belong to my child. Moreover he loves it so much... it won' t be swaped whatever is the deal because we both love it so much! IMO "Composition with R B and Y" is much better than style war (the print...not the wall) and i'll be happy to discuss it later when it will be framed !

Jesus microflu you really need to get that sense of humour centre in your brain sorted out. It's fine that you have anger issues but the winking icon on dazarino's post was the clue that it was only meant tongue in cheek.

Anyway, not my cut of Tee, sorry my cup of tea.
For a lot of reasons that I won't tell ( too much fans of Z. here : peace, no war )

I'm still tempted by this, and delighted that I'm still able to dither, my problem being that as I recall Style Wars wasn't screenprinted because it's hard/impossible to recreate Z's particular style with that process, which sounded sensible to my non-expert ears. Different Strokes wasn't screenprinted either. But now this has been, leaving me worried that the detail on the boy won't quite work. I'm particularly concerned, looking at the pics, about his blotchy red forehead. Really that's all that's stopping me from buying it, though I guess I could always send it back if I don't like it. Can anyone reassure me before it's too late?

Roy, i for one would really like to hear why you don't like Zach...  Art is personal, what you don't like could be something that someone else does like, but you voicing your crtique is not an attack on my affinity for the piece...  Just saying...  Adults can have discussions with people whose opinions differ, and more importantly can often learn from those same differeing opinions!!

Great! Decision made for me then. Shuttling between the thoughts of buying and not. Looks like it's £380 saved but a nice print gone from my collection.
