If there is no possibility to protect it and there's then only a choice between someone ripping it out or someone vandalizing it I don't know what to hope for.

Love the piece, but at the same time I don't want to see it on Ebay or any Bankrobber exhibition in the future. And I don't want it vandalized.

Why can't we all be friends and leave it as it is?

I would sooner see this tagged to death than stripped out and sold on to be honest- its what the art is all about, as much as it may pain some.

Possibly a bit of Robin Banks charity then?

I hope they are able to remove it safely and raise the funds needed.

Surely if he wanted to do a piece for the charity to auction he would. Doubt it was intended for someone to rip down an sell off. Prefer to see the piece go gracefully

Ok so I have just been to see the Banksy in Bristol. Lovely work of art. I talked at length with the owner of Broad plain boys club. I can tell you that the painting is being removed today, by a pro carpenter. It will then at some point be sold to help pay for the 120k the club needs to keep going.
The guy knows nothing about Banksy, although he thinks he may have gone to the club when he was younger. He certainly didn't know Banksy's name when I mentioned it.
I told him I am not a fan of street art being removed, but I can see no other option. It may as well go to the cause, its not a water charity after all ;-). Its on wood, there are a couple of pieces of gaffer tape covering up holes. The guy removed one to show me a large hole. I told him not to do it again.
Anyway I am going to be advising him with what happens from now on with the piece. I do think Banksy meant for it to be used for the fund raising of the Boys club, but it's obviously just a guess.
I was also interviewed by Heart FM about Banksy and the piece in question. Pictures to follow. As mentioned, if your not down there now, you won't see it.

He thinks Banksy did this as he went to the club as a child.  However he clearly doesn't know who Banksy is after talking to him.  So he is guessing. 

Also 120k is the amount the club needs to raise, not what he thinks he can get for it.

Gutted was gonna try and get to see this in situ within 24hrs.......

Slammer, long time- hope you're well. I don't follow the logic 100% though only the artist can answer for certain. On the one hand given the plight of the club, I follow your logic that this was a gift to help cash woes. On the other, that's a wonderful spot for a painting and I have a very had time accepting that anyone is paying more than 20k (which is not to suggest that is not a lot of money) for a street piece sans COA. If this was more about raising money for an old club than it was about painting a choice spot with a lovely image, that same painting on found wood given its scale with a COA would be worth more than 20 times the price without one.

Regardless, I suppose its obvious that someone is removing that door so it might as well be those in need. I guess anytime he's painting on something that can easily be removed, he's expecting it to be removed but to conclude they are always gifts in that form is odd, at least to me.
