This is not good. we all want Banksy's street work to remain on the street. This is on wood, there were plenty of walls he could have painted on.

I know the site well and saw it this afternoon; absolutely fantastic piece. The argument that ' if I don't steal it then someone else will' is a pretty redundent argument, both legally and ethically, as far as I'm concerned but each to their own. |

If they remove it or sell it then they're liable to be committing theft unless they're doing so with the owner's permission. This is on wood, there were plenty of walls he could have painted on. exactly - I think its pretty clear that Banksy didn't intend the piece to be a permanent feature, he could easily have painted on an adjacent wall rather than this exact spot. Just like the grafitti sign piece that launched BOTI etc. What happens to the pieces once their up is part of the theatre. Its a nice sentiment the club using it as a fund-raiser but if its not their wall then plain and simple its not theirs to sell, and I wouldn't be advising them to do so. |

Ask yourselves this question.
You have a Banksy on wood outside your home/club whatever. Do you
A) Leave it to get stolen later today at the latest.
B) Have it professionally removed and allow the public to visit the club to see it, prior to sale. (This is his plan) get in touch with PC and ask permission what was intended and if Prov can be given. If not they can always put it back and let some one fuck it.

I have just emailed them letting them know where there piece is along with a photo of the short fat bloke posing with it after it was removed. |
