Hillsborough 25 years on., by Deleted on Apr 15, 2014 20:57:06 GMT 1, I was on the way home from Brentford after watching Bristol Rovers play. Got on the coach and heard the news. No one spoke all the way back to Bristol. Tears were shed. Brentford had played Liverpool in the previous round 1/4's I think. That kind of made it feel more intense.
Just wondered if anyone remembers what they were doing or where they were when they heard the news.
RIP all who died and those still effected have my thoughts.

Hillsborough 25 years on., by Finsbury on Apr 15, 2014 21:11:37 GMT 1, My aunty is a scouser and to hear the words from someone who was there on that fateful day, who knows people that died and parents of them, the hatred towards the police and to The Sun for branding them hooligans is so shocking. No one deserves not to return home from a football match. RIP 96.

Hillsborough 25 years on., by supercockle on Apr 15, 2014 21:12:41 GMT 1, I was at home, watching on the TV in the back room. I'm a Wednesday fan and as an autograph collector, I'd asked my parents if I could go along to the game with a mate and get autographs. They wouldn't let me go because of how busy it would be. I remember watching it all unfold and thinking how glad I was they'd keep me at home. It was horrendous. My father's been to the memorial at Hillsborough today to pay his respects.

Hillsborough 25 years on., by Hubble Bubble on Apr 15, 2014 21:18:14 GMT 1, I'm a Liverpool supporter. I was driving home from Blackpool - my home town as a kid - to Epsom, where I was living at the time. I'd listened to the radio all afternoon but, as the awful truth began to sink in, I had to pull over less than a mile from home. I jus sat and listened in shock.
Of course, we must never forget that other football communities have also had their tragedies. My wife is from Bradford. That, too, was an unspeakably horrific afternoon. Heysel, Ibrox, Munich ... all terrible tragedies. Modern football is worse in many ways but infinitely better in others.

They quoted many points under the umbrella of hooliganism. All of which are not even worth repeating they are so vile.

Hillsborough 25 years on., by johnnyh on Apr 16, 2014 1:19:07 GMT 1, Watched it all unfold live on TV. Unbelievable scenes. Heartfelt respects to all who suffered.
As well as the police etc I have always been surprised how little flack the FA got. They did very little to protect the fans after the event amid all the accusations and very little to support the families.
As a large and important body they could have done so much more so shame on them.
Terrible for those families it's been such a long time.
Thought it was nice that Rodgers showed great respect to Kenny Dalglish yesterday. I know he did an immense amount for the families and suffered quite a lot of shock himself. He by all accounts attended a huge amount of the funerals and really supported the families over the years. Good on him nice to see him being appreciated
