WTB: Girl With Balloon, by Deleted on Apr 30, 2014 22:17:57 GMT 1, Does this make the print any less collectable? I don't think they were all numbered - I've seen several stamped, but unsigned and unnumbered early prints. Assuming there's no Pest Control COA, of course it makes it 'less collectable'. I too have seen scores of stolen, sorry, I mean stamped but unsigned and unnumbered early POW prints. I've also seen many outright fake stamped, but unsigned and unnumbered early prints in the years since. Anyone buying a Banksy print without a COA for more than a couple of quid is stone cold mental, and that includes those people who originally bought them from certain POW ex-employees. I understand the point of COA's obviously, but are really that many fakes out there? It's pretty darn hard to make a screen print, so you'd think if someone took the time to do one, there'd be tons of fakes posted everywhere (not referring to WCP's, since they're stamped "not Banksy".
full disclosure - I have a backdoor Flying Copper. No stamp/number/signature, but love the image, didn't pay too much, and it looks amazing hanging up.... never seen another come up for sale, so I have to assume it's an "authentic" backdoor

Do you really think WCP stamps not banksy on 'all' of their prints ?

WTB: Girl With Balloon, by mouser on Apr 30, 2014 22:29:52 GMT 1, I was seriously stung with a fake signed toxic mary a few years back. A very detailed print but always been a significantly less popular print than GWRB, which is also a very simple image. Sadly it only came to light it was fake when PC started up and I was getting a few sorted out. Signed, stamped, proof of purchase from art republic etc.... looked about as good as it could back then. Probably one of the easiest to copy, and one of the most desirable... I'd want something cast iron when it came to a GWRB.

no idea, but as far as I know, they've never done a run of Flying Coppers. I bought mine from a reputable person on this forum so I'm not worried - I'm just speaking in general terms and sincerely curious - are there really that many fake prints around? I know we've all seen fake "street" pieces on ebay, but I don't think I've ever seen a screen print that was fake.

It's not at all "pretty darn hard to make a screen print", it's a piece of piss. You just have to supply the image to a screen printers you'll find in any town or city, they'll do the separations and print it up for you, just as pretty much all of the 'galleries' people on this forum buy 'original' prints from. 2. "Assuming" your print is "authentic" because you've "never seen another one come up for sale" is a very curious and extremely misguided form or sense of provenance and doesn't bode well for your sales threads. interesting article... will definitely make me think twice about buying backdoor prints in the future. the article does say their fakes were made on a printer though, not screen printed. I'd hope no reputable printer would risk their reputation by printing fakes but you never know. and it would be hard for anybody with a home setup to hand pull with the same quality that a pro setup would have.
not sure how me buying a backdoor print from a trusted board member would have anything to do with the rare sales thread I post. of course i wouldn't sell anything without provenance/COA's. and if I did ever decide to sell my backdoor print, I would make sure the buyer knew what they were buying

I don't think so. That is an original work and it wouldn't be sold on ebay.
I know who has the original of that painting.
You sure you didn't see something else on ebay?
