SCAMMER ALERT GIRL WITH BALLOON Will Bauer, by cpb on May 1, 2014 5:09:43 GMT 1, Good Evening,
I don't post here often, but read a bit here and there and have been a collector of urban art and especially Banksys for many many years.
I want to alert the community about William Bauer whom last week submitted pictures of MY Girl With Balloon to Pest Control for authentication. I bought a GWB last year and submitted the pictures from the seller to Pest Control in addition to the photos I took. PC notified me that William submitted the same exact pictures from the previous owner.
This person was also on eBay selling a GWB under the name willbauer1. Furthermore, I know now two people he attempted to sell this to and asked them to pay using an escrow service. Both people are members here.
After this happened and after reading the GWB thread in the "Wanted" section I became concerned it would be target time for Mr. Bauer. If you have any additional information, such as a real name, name of victims and location of the scammer please let me know as I will submit a complaint to local authorities.
Please be careful in sending photos of numbers/signatures guys!

I was one of the people he tried to sell the girl to. The scary thing is that the pics looked legit, because they were, but as soon as he told me that he did not have the COA, I stopped replying to his emails.
You should definitely contact the authorities.

Unless Pest Control have full records of every owner of a particular print with dates.
One day there will be big gaps in ownership and authenticities will be questioned.
It's a big task.

Funny, he told me he posted two different pictures with different frames because his camera was broke. Do you know anyone in this day and age who doesn't have a half-decent camera in their phone? He then did not answer my next give questions about the condition, frame job and letter from Lazarides.

I simply got in touch with the guy as I was interested in the print and he responded we sent a few messages back and forth and that was that, he also told me he changed the frame as the one with the blue mount was slightly tatty so had it changed to the secound one, so maybe he is full of s**t, I'm not intersted in the print now anyway but how has he used me? |
