Banksy's boy's club Bristol gift 'could fetch £500K', by lee3 on May 9, 2014 16:16:14 GMT 1, >>>For the first time he is commenting on his website on the fake BNE collab and now he admitted doing a street piece.... Even when PEST did not give out a COA on it...<<<
It's always been quasi admission via the photos while this one has the added cachet of the nice note. Still, in the absence of a COA, your auction venues are limited. It would seem to me that this would do better than most street pieces (whatever that means) yet fetch a fraction of the same with proper paperwork. I could well be mistaken but I would think expectations of 500k are unrealistic while recognizing that even 10s of thousands of pounds is the proverbial lottery ticket. He certainly keeps it interesting.

if the letters fake then no chance

Banksy's boy's club Bristol gift 'could fetch £500K', by lee3 on May 9, 2014 16:26:59 GMT 1, ^ Sounds like the letter is legit. On the one hand, maybe you're right that PC would issue a COA for this one and on the other, it seems like that could open Pandora's box and encourage the Robin Barton's of this world to keep at it not to mention the managerial headaches going forward of that decision. Pure speculation on my part having spoken to no one about it is that it would not receive a COA for the reasons above.
If they wanted to issue a COA, it would be much easier to exchange that piece for something similar thereby never sidestepping their own policy (a policy that is used by the Basquiat and Haring foundations as well). It will be interesting to watch...

It's an original image, nice composition, its large, and can very easily be framed up and will look amazing on any super millionaire's wall. I think it will do as well or better.
And remember the hard time they had trying to actually sell the banality piece after the auction ended and the winner didn't really have the cash.

I believed they hustled and eventually got around 400K. The underbidder refused to buy as she said that if the guy with no money had not bid she would have got it much cheaper, so wouldn't honor her last bid.

Banksy's boy's club Bristol gift 'could fetch £500K', by Coach on May 9, 2014 18:33:27 GMT 1, Feature about this and a decent length interview with the club owner on radio 4's PM programme this afternoon. You should catch it on listen again if jnterested.
Owner said that he thinks he's met banksy but doesn't know for sure.
Said he's gonna sell, use the money for the club and set up a trust fund for other local youth organisations with whatever's left over.
Chatted about the letter and that it's been authenticated.
Said he hoped a benefactor would buy the piece and loan it back so others could see the artwork.
Full of praise for banksy, as one might expect.
Sounded like a decent chap.

Banksy's boy's club Bristol gift 'could fetch £500K', by randomname on May 9, 2014 21:05:07 GMT 1, I think the first step is to get a COA for the letter. Then perhaps a COA for the COA.

Banksy's boy's club Bristol gift 'could fetch £500K', by Dr Plip on May 11, 2014 11:54:18 GMT 1, So. Anyone know the latest word on this? Is it still in the museum?
Having re-read the letter, it's interesting that Banksy says the club can do what they like with it, but it's not in their possession. Anyone know if he also contacted the Bristol museum, saying to give it back?
www.westerndailypress.co.uk/Join-hunt-Banksy-track-tour-Bristol/story-21081936-detail/story.html
Edit: Never mind. This BBC article says that the club were given a receipt when the council took the piece away. The man has a receipt.
