Gallery fees/Pound of flesh, by poorservice on Jan 2, 2008 18:06:06 GMT 1, Prob a bit of a newb question but can anyone give me a steer on the sort of % I can expect galleries to take when selling a Banksy? So far I've had quotes of 12.5% and 25% for a couple of beloved signed prints.
I'm trying to pay for a wedding this year so I'm being regrettably mercenary.
Would welcome any thoughts and guidance.

Gallery fees/Pound of flesh, by timebomb on Jan 2, 2008 18:24:16 GMT 1, In my experience, galleries can go up to even 50/50, but dealers and consultants can ask from anything from 12.5% to 50% also. It's worth it if they take it off your hands straight away with a guaranteed sell- rather than waiting for an offer or gambling on ebay- but selling here directly online cuts out commission and middle people.

Gallery fees/Pound of flesh, by poorservice on Jan 2, 2008 18:27:46 GMT 1, Thanks for the prompt response Zippy.
Well I have a Laugh Now and Flying Copper. Both signed of 150. Neither have been anywhere near eBay but I have had a conversation with a few dealers in December (although I'm yet to progress anything).
I have full provenance (Bank statement and POW email confirmation). They're in the original tubes and are mint.
I don't want to be laughed off the forum before I've even got started so forgive me if I'm nervous of putting cash amounts on a post just yet. However - happy to discuss via PM and keen to reassure that I don't have any other ghost accounts/ebay aliases etc. etc.
Thanks

Gallery fees/Pound of flesh, by manty on Jan 2, 2008 18:33:24 GMT 1, what prints are they?
I am curious is all, I very rarely look at the galleries for say banksy prints.
Maybe ? Get the price the gallery say they would get for the prints and offer them on here at that price less half their commission.

Gallery fees/Pound of flesh, by poorservice on Jan 2, 2008 18:43:16 GMT 1, Hi all - some great feedback and guidance so thanks (I've had a number of prints since 2003 and am ashamed that I've never been on the forum before now).
Will check out the links and keep you posted what the gallery feedback is (i.e. prices etc.).
Again thanks for all the help.
