MOBILE LOVERS: Banksy spotted being valued Antiques Roadshow, by Sweetcorn on May 31, 2014 8:01:24 GMT 1, It was put there for the placement of it thats all, everything he does on the street is near somewhere. Yes wiz but why was it put there? Because it's near the boys club. And why was that important? Because he wanted them to have it. If he wasn't bothered he wouldn't have got involved when the museum tried to claim it. It was a setup from the beginning, this isn't a random piece of street art at all, banksy fully intended for it to become a major news story with a charitable angle. Nothing wrong with that IMO, my point is only that the COA situation wouldn't set any dangerous precedents as it's obvious the piece was intended for resale from the start. you obviously don't have a clue what your talking about.

MOBILE LOVERS: Banksy spotted being valued Antiques Roadshow, by overend on May 31, 2014 8:27:36 GMT 1, It was put there as it was a perfect place for the work. People on here were saying it was a film set as it was too perfect.

MOBILE LOVERS: Banksy spotted being valued Antiques Roadshow, by Dr Plip on May 31, 2014 8:51:44 GMT 1, I think if the letter is genuine (and the Mayor of Bristol believes it is), then it says that the graffiti was originally meant as "a small visual gift for the area". It appears that the decision to gift it to the club came letter, err later. If the letter's not by Banksy, then who the fu knows?

Nothing wrong with that IMO, my point is only that the COA situation wouldn't set any dangerous precedents as it's obvious the piece was intended for resale from the start. It is my understanding that it was done where it was done because of the placement (a visual gift for the area), the spot was right and the ensuing Banksy website page showed that to be the case. I dont believe for one minute that it was done there solely as a gift for the club or indeed as any kind of set up, that followed later after much press and media intervention.
Whether people believe the letter is authentic or not is their own choice. I myself believe if he had wanted originally to help the club he would have donated it direct to them (without risk of anyone else taking it from its spot).
Would I myself prefer it to be in the ownership of the Boys club rather than be taken and displayed in some Gallery somewhere? then the answer is absolutely yes, at least it is doing some good.
edit. I dont care for it anyhow, looks wrong out of context for me, like the jilted boyfriend on the Hustler club door.
Edit 2. I also think that Dennis was poorly advised on what to do initially, I know of at least three people on here alone who could have given him better advice rather than him courting the press, one of those people actually gave me excellent advice on getting myself sorted out of a financial disaster.

MOBILE LOVERS: Banksy spotted being valued Antiques Roadshow, by Dice on May 31, 2014 10:03:33 GMT 1, Team banksy are experts in what they do. Nothing is random, they plan pieces and events in meticulous detail.
When did we last see a street piece on wood that is so easily removable? They would have known when they put it up that their 'gift to the area' wasn't going to last more than 24 hours as anyone with a crowbar could come along and take it off in less than half an hour.
I wouldn't be surprised if they tipped off the boys club to prevent it falling into the hands of violent thugs out to make a quick buck

No doubt a lot of meticulous planning and forward thinking around shows etc but I'd guess they go with the flow at times, have a bit of fun a long the way. I honestly think it was put there because it was the right setting for the work and everything else was a chain reaction. I should add I don't know shit, like most people. In my head its a group of guys having the time of there life, theres probably others who look after the paperwork etc side of things.

I know even less than you but would hazard a guess it's not all beer (cider) and skittles. He probably misses the old days when work could be produced without consequences. Don't forget the elephant piece that inadvertently made someone homeless.

MOBILE LOVERS: Banksy spotted being valued Antiques Roadshow, by Deleted on May 31, 2014 16:55:42 GMT 1, i don't get the point of disagreement at all; is it just a misunderstanding of what constitutes 'street art'?
it should've ended at "done in public (esp without permission) = street art"
