Anyway, if you click the link you'd see the flying pig standing on all 4's looking quite content with itself.

are you a vegetarian and/or animal activist streetfart?

BOTI - IRL, by Deleted on Jun 10, 2014 7:44:43 GMT 1, I suppose that depends on how you look at it. I find it quite a liberating image. I'll tell you how I look at it, and perhaps you might then appreciate why some of us find this offensive. It's a defenceless animal, been bred purely to satisfy the greed of humans, had a s**t life, transported in overcrowded conditions, and will ultimately meet its death in an abatoir full of screaming animals. It's fallen out of a moving truck, onto hard tarmac, and probably been hit by another vehicle.
F'in' hilarious!
Understand mate, this is an art site, and not all of us find such things funny, or 'liberating'.

I'm glad the pig managed to escape the slaughter house, I very much doubt the pig managed to escape the slaughter house indefinitely, but I like the optimism Toast. Miraculously she escaped unhurt and has now been adopted by police who responded to the incident in the Guangxi region.
โShe was safe and sound after her leap,โ said a police spokesman, โbut found herself lost in the big city.
โIf we hadnโt have got to her he would have undoubtedly found himself at the end of a blade wielded by a local who would have enjoyed pork for days to come.โ
Lost in the big city (Picture: Rex) He added: โShe saw one chance of freedom by clambering on the backs of the other pigs and took it.
โShe deserves her chance of life and she has got it. She will never be eaten here.โ
Babe is being kept at the police station and is living happily in a pen usually reserved for a police dog.

Understand mate, this is an art site, and not all of us find such things funny, or 'liberating'. Before we start schooling each other, check the section on this forum where the post has been made. And yes, it was mainly in direct reference to BOTI, with a hint of a juvenile attempt at black humour, so possibly this story is most relevant on this art forum then even on the BBC.
If you want to bring this into a art debate, I can think of other incidences of defenseless animals being used purely to satisfy the whims of humans...for greedy ends some could also say. Are you in support of any of the below?
and I'll let Mr B himself close this round of my argument.

BOTI - IRL, by vinzc on Jun 10, 2014 16:32:52 GMT 1, I believe it is cruel...but unless you've vowed to go vegan (or specific to farm to table), it's somewhat hypocritical to argue.
These days, one can't even really argue the case even if they've decided to only eat free range or 'organic' as those conditions for animals aren't really what we think they are.

My original post was just a response to a picture of an animal falling from a great height was not "LULZ" to me as it was to the OP. I didn't bother to click the link.
I agree organic and free range have become marketing terms. I am lucky enough to have a Craft Butcher near me and buy all of our meat farm to table. It costs a bit more but knowing exactly what local farm my food comes from is well worth it. Though $25-35 for a chicken at first glance took a while to get used to.
I love pork but I like to eat only happy piggies

These days, one can't even really argue the case even if they've decided to only eat free range or 'organic' as those conditions for animals aren't really what we think they are. Indeed, but that doesn't make it right in terms of exploitation. There is always going to be hypocrisy, but to carry on as we are and allow the exploitation of animals to continue in its current state isn't acceptable to me. Like a lot of things, we as individuals are powerless to achieve results; all we can do is make the necessary changes in our own lives which - in some small way - may make a difference.
I agree that what is labelled as 'organic' probably isn't. To ensure standards are met though is what governments are for, and yet more and more we are seeing Govts absolve themselves of their responsibilities in favour of pushing the blame onto the individual.
I accept that as things stand I cannot achieve all that I'd like to, but that doesn't mean I have to throw the towel in.

BOTI - IRL, by Deleted on Jun 10, 2014 17:03:04 GMT 1, minibear - there is a difference between showing three pics of art involving animals, and that of a truck transporting pigs to slaughter. And within these three pieces there is a difference.
The issue is about how we exploit animals, which we as humans do to varying degrees. You are probably just as capable as me of seeing that difference.

Youre one of my favourite post reads, not too serious and a good laugh!
