I suppose that depends on how you look at it. I find it quite a liberating image. I'll tell you how I look at it, and perhaps you might then appreciate why some of us find this offensive. It's a defenceless animal, been bred purely to satisfy the greed of humans, had a s**t life, transported in overcrowded conditions, and will ultimately meet its death in an abatoir full of screaming animals. It's fallen out of a moving truck, onto hard tarmac, and probably been hit by another vehicle. F'in' hilarious! Understand mate, this is an art site, and not all of us find such things funny, or 'liberating'. |

If you want to bring this into a art debate, I can think of other incidences of defenseless animals being used purely to satisfy the whims of humans...for greedy ends some could also say. Are you in support of any of the below?

And yes, it was mainly in direct reference to BOTI, with a hint of a juvenile attempt at black humour, so possibly this story is most relevant on this art forum then even on the BBC. My original post was just a response to a picture of an animal falling from a great height was not "LULZ" to me as it was to the OP. I didn't bother to click the link.
I agree organic and free range have become marketing terms. I am lucky enough to have a Craft Butcher near me and buy all of our meat farm to table. It costs a bit more but knowing exactly what local farm my food comes from is well worth it. Though $25-35 for a chicken at first glance took a while to get used to.
I love pork but I like to eat only happy piggies

I agree that what is labelled as 'organic' probably isn't. To ensure standards are met though is what governments are for, and yet more and more we are seeing Govts absolve themselves of their responsibilities in favour of pushing the blame onto the individual.
I accept that as things stand I cannot achieve all that I'd like to, but that doesn't mean I have to throw the towel in.

Indeed, but that doesn't make it right in terms of exploitation. There is always going to be hypocrisy, but to carry on as we are and allow the exploitation of animals to continue in its current state isn't acceptable to me. Like a lot of things, we as individuals are powerless to achieve results; all we can do is make the necessary changes in our own lives which - in some small way - may make a difference. The issue is about how we exploit animals, which we as humans do to varying degrees. You are probably just as capable as me of seeing that difference.
