The risk behind high art returns (article), by Deleted on Jun 12, 2014 7:02:02 GMT 1, I think they missed the fact that "western" art circle is already well established with many players (middleman as said in article) and that is why most art investor went for new market such as Asian market (esp. China) !!
Wait, there is no mention of China in article ?
Gonna say Nigerian bank are doing exactly the same in Nigeria and some other countries in Africa... They buy the stock directly from the artist at peanut prices, they organise few auctions in London with help of Tate, Bonhams and Lloyd (a must to certify price of latest purchases/sales); so that their stock (placed as cpy assets) get a 10fold to 100fold increase in one night.
Some people will argue it is good !! I think it is very very bad, you can clearly see that artists here have only one hope, to sell their stuff to pseudo-art-philanthropist giving false hopes to artists and killing their market by creating a bubble and having exclusivity contract. As I always there are other business models, such as targeting local market and diversifying products (merchandising) and sell cheap-art-for-the-mass !

The risk behind high art returns (article), by iamzero on Jun 12, 2014 7:10:43 GMT 1, I was told of this about 3 years ago that financial advisers were suggesting art to clients instead of the the usually wine and gold. Price rises in Banksy prints is to be expected after galleries passing themselves off as forum members on here (you know who are because I know who some of you snakes are) then start to pass on the prints they buy to auction houses where the rich have more money to throw around.
