Can you help me please?
I have just purchased an original painting (I am papping myself with excitement - pics to follow when it is safely on my wall!!!) but it is located in France.
Any ideas on the best, safest, cheapest way to get it back to the UK, other than driving over there myself?

Most people seem to use flight logistics.
It's who I use when sending something that shouldn't go in the post.
I assume they will also collect for you.
Your concern might be whether the sender packs it properly as you won't have control over this. You may wish to discuss that with the sender and FL.

Help please - need to pick up framed artwork from France, by Deleted on Jun 16, 2014 14:06:22 GMT 1, I thought auction houses in France (and other places) would only hand over the art once payment had been made and only to the original buyer.
If someone does manage to pick it up for you in France make sure they have all the paperwork and proof that they had permission from you just in case those roaming douanes (mobile customs patrols) pull over or spot check the person and demand to see all the paperwork and other proof.
They can be a right pain.

Customs on the other hand... I am 5 months into a dispute with HMC about a RAE piece I bought that was coded incorrectly by the gallery. It's only about £60 they owe me but I'm not going to let it go the f'ckers...

So they go for places where cars etc can't do u turns or see them and it's common for stops to occur actually on roundabouts where they park a car on a roundabout and pull over cars on the roundabout meaning other drivers have to try to avoid non moving cars on roundabouts.
I've also seen stops at road junctions and traffic lights.
They also operate on the Euro star train to England from France.
Anyone buying antiques and other things in France, awlays get a reciept from the seller even if it's for a low amount of money.
Then you are covered.
The police do the same but it's rare to see the stops when it's raining or at night apart from outside nightclubs etc.
French road planning is also probably the worst quality in the whole of europe too. Well what I have seen of it so far is.
