I'm looking to buy a floating frame, should I get this professionally done?

Floating is a different ballgame. Try it if you want, but they say you get what you pay for. I do not think I would ever buy something expensive that was framed by an amateur.

I frame most pieces myself but I was an archival framer for 7 years and prefer to know exactly what and how my prints are framed and reversible. Floating is a different ballgame. Frame yourself, by Nick on Jun 26, 2014 20:17:56 GMT 1, If you want to stay on the DIY route you can order custom size spacers at www.3dframing.co.uk/spacer_frames.html . Just make sure the frame you order has a deep enough rebate to house it. I wouldnt recommend that site for frames but the spacer service is the best i have found  They are super easy to tack in with double sided tape.
Make sure you understand conservation and reversible framing methods for those expensive prints..Youtube has a wealth of knowledge to learn from! If in doubt let a pro do it..

The process does take quite a long time to get right the first time that you do it, but with a close attention to detail and care it can be done.
