Yes Tas - these were given to a few people that were involved with the show and I was very reluctant to sell something that also has very special meaning to me but needs are needs. I spoke with STIK before putting it up for sale and he understood my reasons for selling it. I was basing my price on what the Copper edition sold for and the rarity of this item and unique character of the diamond dust plus what the other Liberty prints sold for. I have received a PM that is almost at my asking price so I am confident it wasn't a silly asking price. If it doesn't sell in 24 hours than I will put it on the bay.

I have confirmation that Dorian Grey Gallery did indeed sell 2 of these Yellow STIK Liberty prints for
$2,000 - $2,500 in the past and that he does not have any more Yellow STIK prints for sale at this time.

That's absolutely a fair question. I still own quite a bit of his art and I also have sold a bunch of it in the past few years. I have been completely transparent about my personal friendship with him and my fondness for his talents. I purchased the Liberty Prints from Dorian Grey just like anyone else could have who attended the show and had an opportunity to purchase them- I was not given them. The Yellow Print was indeed a gift for my participation in the show and I already have the same exact image in a canvas that I would never sell. In continuing with full transparency, I contacted the artist first to get his opinion on my intentions because it did feel a bit awkward selling a gifted item. I also offered it up for sale here first but quickly realized that the usual detractors were trampling all over my thread so I put it up for sale on the Bay. No one on our forum really knows anyones else's financial and or personal situation but many do make assumptions that sometime start to be believed by the masses as fact when they are way more like fiction and fantasy.

Thanks for replying wearology. Just curious, did you buy the prints from Dorian Grey with the intention to resell as you sold a few colourways quite quickly after the show. Just asking as it would be great to get some honesty about art collectors or long standing members who DO buy to resell when there is an oppotunity given to them. Sort of exploiting the situation really. I am not saying there is anything wrong in that at all, I think many people would also do the same.

Castle, i am just trying to prove a point that many of the long standing members buy work to resell for a profit or indeed to finance improving their own collections. Everyone always accuse's the new folk of flipping when i think it is actually a lot of the forum doing it. Perhaps some do it more ethically. I just feel there should not be so much bashing of people selling art on the forum and less of the accusations of flipping. I've not been tarred with the flipper brush, but I have bought secondary and sold for a profit and I think there is zero room for bashing sellers, whatever the timing. There can't be a rule that it's not ok for the first few days, and it's fine 6 months later. Buying a Stik print is close to a sure thing for a profit, whether you sell it a day, or 6 months later.

If we can all make peace with buying from sellers who clearly never intended to display/ keep a piece of art, then we can avoid all the sob stories people feel the peer pressure to write.
