STIK Rare "Liberty" Yellow Diamond Dust Print , by Wearology on Jun 30, 2014 17:59:59 GMT 1, I am selling an extremely rare Yellow STIK "Liberty" print. This is # 1 from and edition of 10. They were made using a Diamond Dust finish and have a faint sparkle to them. They are signed in the top left and bottom right and the edition size is in the bottom left and top right. The asking price is north of 2,900 British Sterling Pounds / $4,000 US Dollars Artist - STIK Title - Liberty Finish - Diamond Dust Dimensions - 44 Inches X 17 Inches COA - Full Provenance Condition - Mint / Perfect Edition - 10 Source - Dorien Grey Gallery Ownership - Original Owner

STIK Rare "Liberty" Yellow Diamond Dust Print , by Wearology on Jun 30, 2014 19:59:18 GMT 1, Yes Tas - these were given to a few people that were involved with the show and I was very reluctant to sell something that also has very special meaning to me but needs are needs. I spoke with STIK before putting it up for sale and he understood my reasons for selling it. I was basing my price on what the Copper edition sold for and the rarity of this item and unique character of the diamond dust plus what the other Liberty prints sold for. I have received a PM that is almost at my asking price so I am confident it wasn't a silly asking price. If it doesn't sell in 24 hours than I will put it on the bay.

STIK Rare "Liberty" Yellow Diamond Dust Print , by tas on Jun 30, 2014 20:21:01 GMT 1, Oh, please don't think I was trying to point out you were selling something that was given to you. Definitely not what I intended.
Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a difference in the editions because I was looking into buying a yellow version from another source.
Best of luck with the sale, I hope everything works out.

STIK Rare "Liberty" Yellow Diamond Dust Print , by Wearology on Jun 30, 2014 21:40:00 GMT 1, I have confirmation that Dorian Grey Gallery did indeed sell 2 of these Yellow STIK Liberty prints for $2,000 - $2,500 in the past and that he does not have any more Yellow STIK prints for sale at this time. If anyone would like to make me an offer in the next 24 hours - I would be open to offers below my original asking price.

STIK Rare "Liberty" Yellow Diamond Dust Print , by Gunny on Jul 2, 2014 11:01:16 GMT 1, I have a question Wear. I see that you have sold quite a few Stik prints from the show at Dorian Gray. Also other stick prints. You mention in previous posts that Stik is a great guy, maybe even a personal freind. I am just wondering how you feel about being given the opportunity to buy his stuff and then seem to seel quite a lot of it, for a profit. Just wondering......

STIK Rare "Liberty" Yellow Diamond Dust Print , by Wearology on Jul 2, 2014 19:06:20 GMT 1, That's absolutely a fair question. I still own quite a bit of his art and I also have sold a bunch of it in the past few years. I have been completely transparent about my personal friendship with him and my fondness for his talents. I purchased the Liberty Prints from Dorian Grey just like anyone else could have who attended the show and had an opportunity to purchase them- I was not given them. The Yellow Print was indeed a gift for my participation in the show and I already have the same exact image in a canvas that I would never sell. In continuing with full transparency, I contacted the artist first to get his opinion on my intentions because it did feel a bit awkward selling a gifted item. I also offered it up for sale here first but quickly realized that the usual detractors were trampling all over my thread so I put it up for sale on the Bay. No one on our forum really knows anyones else's financial and or personal situation but many do make assumptions that sometime start to be believed by the masses as fact when they are way more like fiction and fantasy.

STIK Rare "Liberty" Yellow Diamond Dust Print , by Gunny on Jul 3, 2014 12:35:26 GMT 1, Thanks for replying wearology. Just curious, did you buy the prints from Dorian Grey with the intention to resell as you sold a few colourways quite quickly after the show. Just asking as it would be great to get some honesty about art collectors or long standing members who DO buy to resell when there is an oppotunity given to them. Sort of exploiting the situation really. I am not saying there is anything wrong in that at all, I think many people would also do the same.

STIK Rare "Liberty" Yellow Diamond Dust Print , by Gunny on Jul 3, 2014 13:47:33 GMT 1, Castle, i am just trying to prove a point that many of the long standing members buy work to resell for a profit or indeed to finance improving their own collections. Everyone always accuse's the new folk of flipping when i think it is actually a lot of the forum doing it. Perhaps some do it more ethically. I just feel there should not be so much bashing of people selling art on the forum and less of the accusations of flipping. I feel everyone has the right to buy and sell as they please, including Wear
Castle i also remember you getting a lot of stick when you were first around?

Yep you're right there Gunny, I def got a bashing for a while and I do agree there's too much talk about flipping, probably my least fav word after a few years on the forum, when someone buys the art its theres do what they want, there are situations were I think its inappropriate as well and I understand peoples frustration, like with new releases, nothing wrong with someone buying it to sell on and make a few quid but doesn't seem right to offer it on the forum within a day or 2 of members who tried but failed to get it. I guess its a judgement thing. I did think you were having a pop at wear which is why I said something, my apologies The word Flipper/flipping should be banned, used too flippantly

STIK Rare "Liberty" Yellow Diamond Dust Print , by sierrahotel on Jul 3, 2014 14:39:07 GMT 1, I've not been tarred with the flipper brush, but I have bought secondary and sold for a profit and I think there is zero room for bashing sellers, whatever the timing. There can't be a rule that it's not ok for the first few days, and it's fine 6 months later. Buying a Stik print is close to a sure thing for a profit, whether you sell it a day, or 6 months later.
If we can all make peace with buying from sellers who clearly never intended to display/ keep a piece of art, then we can avoid all the sob stories people feel the peer pressure to write.
Good luck with the sale Jon - I stuck in a bid on ebay (the ebay bashing is another weird thing on here..)
Enjoy the sun, UK people!
