I've only seen pix online, and I think it's a gutsy and exciting change for the Patricks. Not that their styled NEEDED a change, but this is refreshing. Not sure I love the patches, but really do enjoy the paintings.

The Patricks are experimenting again. Not my cup of tea though. But it's good to know that they always return to their classic style, so don't worry everybody !

I wouldn't mind the pdf too if anyone has it, although its just out of curiosity, not buying owt.
I haven't been on here much of late but have been surprised about the lack of a thread!
Assumed either people weren't feeling it or lack of a print to generate excitement..

Personally I think they look great and although I love their classic style more, its nice to see a fresh approach and I much prefer the look and feel to the Fragments experimental pieces from a few years back. The cars look amazing too but they're more Faile-ey I'm a sucker for that sort of subject matter..

The images are definitely growing on me. I love that the Patricks keep pushing themselves…with technique, imagery and medium… Unlike many other artist loved on here, they don't just churn out the same old, same old. The work may not always be my favourite …but that is okay…I don't love every Banksy, Warhol, or Rothko... I would love to be able to see the exhibition and stand before the works….in fact I think I may have just talked myself into a little trip!!

Tinmar…The Patricks must be breathing a sigh of relief that you are not the ultimate arbitrator of what is good art and what is not!

I am a Faile fan, but these don't do it for me at all, like Tinmar said they look unfinished and I'm not enjoying those colours, one of the faces in the snippet I saw was pretty weak, would like to see the rest of the images though, I'm sure theres one or 2 corkers amongst them.

badrobot I don't really think it is pushing boundaries either, but I think most people would have an idea of what a new Faile show would look like, and most of the works here would not fit with that. Agree its kind of deconstructed, doing many of the same things as the collages etc albeit a slightly different aesthetic. Less awkward than the Fragments show though for me (although I love the one that Afr1ka picked up from that body of work).

Perhaps this kind of feel is an attempt to break outside of the 'urban' pigeonhole with contemporary collectors etc - to go up another level, the choice of gallery and price tags etc. Or maybe they did just decide to do a looser body of work inspired by their kids etc.. For me its interesting rather than amazing, I like them because I like Faile so despite the different feel, the imagery and subject matter isn't too much of a shock to the system. I can't really see people who don't like Faile changing their mind after seeing this show, and maybe a lot of hardcore fans only want to see stuff screenprinted onto canvas, wood or paper. But i'd much prefer to see something like this and the forthcoming abstract pieces planned for Edinburgh rather than show after show rehashing images from the archives with a few new ones here and there. Would be interesting to see if other big names such as Shep or D*Face could pull off something like this..

Good points twist, whilst I respect the change in direction and fuck do I wish a few more urban artists would step outside their comfort zones - this work leaves me cold, but maybe this will lead to something new I do like .... Stranger things have happened!

I have to say I really like these. Every time I go back to them I like them more. Love "Air Support" and "Sleep Tight".
