Behind the scenes at POW - Interesting Research Paper, by skitchy on Jul 5, 2014 16:57:40 GMT 1, Thought I would share a link to this mildly interesting academic paper I just stumbled across whilst trying to find the POW instagram page...apologies if it has already been mentioned.
Article (scroll down)
Looks like the author got a rare 'behind the scenes' look at the POW production line...

Behind the scenes at POW - Interesting Research Paper, by Deleted on Jul 5, 2014 17:18:56 GMT 1, Even Daniel made it : "Dan Silk’s ‘Banksy Forum’, for example, hosted a number of widely used forums enti-tled ‘Banksy + Urban & Pop Art Chat’, ‘Framed Art and Framing Advice’ and ‘Streetand Graffiti Art Photos’, alongside directweb links to the eBay search engine. Suchcomprehensive information and discussionon the tiny aspects of collecting street artpoint to a whole world of consumption, thatattends to contextual knowledge on thehistory of street art, sharing ideas on effectivestorage and display of street art works, andcirculating images of street-based workslocated in the physical urban landscape, alongside more overtly commercial informa-tion on the pricing and authenticity of POWprints."

Behind the scenes at POW - Interesting Research Paper, by dotdot on Jul 5, 2014 18:03:07 GMT 1, interesting read , i'm sure more stories will follow - perhaps after the event .. perhaps not.
it's a phenomenon.. believe it or not.
and i don't use that term loosely.
.. had to laugh when i read the section on the website faling to bits.. and the fine.. ? it just went to chemical.. it was unreal.. for a long time.
..wonder who martin is.. eh ? sp ?
(oh and btw interesting to miss out wk entirely, i seem to remember there was an index over there with totes on what was happening per month, it was simply astronimcal.. then.. some time later.. that photo appeared and it went pop).

Behind the scenes at POW - Interesting Research Paper, by Deleted on Jul 5, 2014 19:11:24 GMT 1, This is also a very weird quote :
"Confirming the value of ‘handmade’production of POW screen prints, onecollector I spoke to described this aspectsuccinctly, arguing that ‘they’re not Banksyprints, they’re Eine prints. Banksy has nevereven seen it or touched it or been anywherenear it’ [‘Keith’, 20 February 2007]."
So Banksy was not involved in printing the prints or even checking them??

I have the evidence that Banksy has, indeed, checked a test print... though Eine did a large part of the printing of those early prints I have heard.

Behind the scenes at POW - Interesting Research Paper, by skitchy on Jul 5, 2014 21:16:51 GMT 1, The quotes about backdoor prints and banksy not being involved are worrying! But we all know how inconsistent the 'banksy' signature is - even in the same print runs!
*Time frame is interesting - paper wasn't published until 2010 but all the interviews were done around 2006 - pow in its prime!

Behind the scenes at POW - Interesting Research Paper, by Dr Plip on Jul 5, 2014 21:27:17 GMT 1, "I mean the Ghetto is really funny because there are so many people that come in and I know their names and suddenly there’s a face to that name. Just a lot of men. Mid forties. Steph describes them as still living with their mothers, which I quite like. They are all very serious about what they are buying. I know a few property developers and then a lot of sort of office types, definitely.’ [Dora, 20 February 2007]"
"Alongside being defined as something of a male—or ‘geezer’—occupation, the collectors of street art were also marked out as being obsessive and ‘geeky’, much like the archetypal trainspotter."

Any problems with that from buyers? I wouldn't lose much sleep over it, but I guess some do.
Yes i have indded plip and to a few members on here, always photograph them and its never been a prob, you have to embrace the imperfections with screens, thats what makes them special imo

Eine released glicees? which print(s)? The only one I can think of is the "This Sounds Better in the Rain" print from StolenSpace. It's a giclee print with a screen printed gloss layer + glitter. They're still available. Nice image, just too expensive (£350) for a giclee from an artist known for screen printing.
