Nothing to see - move along, by Street Art Fan on Jul 24, 2014 15:43:56 GMT 1, Every now and then a sale comes along with pieces so extraordinary that you turn away from your computer, shake your fists to the high heavens and scream at the top of your lungs: if I only had the dough!
This is one of those sales.

Nothing to see - move along, by Deleted on Jul 25, 2014 13:58:51 GMT 1, The prices for each piece are stated - please don't waste my time or yours if you really are not interested or going to low ball me - I'm not a distressed seller - nor do I have a sexual addiction to grannies

Nothing to see - move along, by Happy Shopper on Jul 28, 2014 13:27:42 GMT 1, The Bast is great, but perhaps a bit expensive when compared to the price of originals from galleries that represent him... but it's a good example of his stencil/cartoon pieces... so it's still tempting!

Nothing to see - move along, by Happy Shopper on Jul 28, 2014 18:52:23 GMT 1, Nah, Eric Firestone gallery had original canvases recently... a little smaller than this maybe, but $12,500 to $14,000. Hand painted and sprayed, not just a stencil edition on canvas. (Even if this is just an edition of 2, I'm fairly sure there's 1 or 2 similar ones as well, without the text, etc)
Also the works on canvas at Outsiders (which now seem to have been removed from the site) were ยฃ6000 and remained unsold for ages (slightly odd style perhaps).
But, you know, it's a great canvas!!

Nothing to see - move along, by Happy Shopper on Jul 29, 2014 9:44:32 GMT 1, Just trying to say that at that price Bast collectors have a lot of options. It's a great canvas though and I'm sure it deserves a price like that, but this is a forum not a gallery... So, you know, to sell on here you might need to price it lower.
Sorry if it seems I'm being negative. It wasn't my intention. If I had 7k for a Bast it would be a definite possibility.

Nothing to see - move along, by met on Aug 15, 2014 17:11:30 GMT 1, thanks for everyone who expressed an interest, including the tyrekickers - these will be coming to an auction near you soon If any work by Bast is included here, I myself would resist taking it to auction.
Although often hit and miss for me, Bast is easily among my favourite artists. And his importance continues to remain largely unrecognised.
However, when it comes to his commercial pieces, I've rarely encountered a market where the discrepancy is so great between (i) prices asked by galleries and resellers and (ii) prices generally achieved at auction thus far.
The risk (and I'd argue a serious one) you face at public auction is a buy-in / burnt piece. Or, in the case of a low reserve price, a poorer result than what you could achieve with some patience through a private sale.
