buying / selling / authenticating / TERMS, by manchestermike on Jan 15, 2008 11:08:33 GMT 1, A) its a new print from santas ghetto 2007 B) why worry
a) Then the number is less relevant - it is only really needed on older prints where the provenance has to be checked back with POW b) Because no provenance can only devalue the print, people want piece of mind buying the print. If it is new from SG07 why no prov?

buying / selling / authenticating / TERMS, by BONGO on Jan 15, 2008 11:33:21 GMT 1, BONGO DOES NOT WISH TO SPARK ANY CONTROVERSY, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN INSTANCES OF NEW POW/ SG PRINTS BEING OFFERED FOR SALE ON EBAY AND PEOPLE FINDING OUT PRINT NUMBERS FROM NAIVE SELLERS AND INFORMING POW, POW THEN CANCELLING ORDERS IF THAT HAVE NOT BEEN SENT
BONGO DOES NOT WISH TO PROVOKE A DEBATE ON THE RIGHTS OR WRONGS OF THIS, AS THERE HAVE BEEN ENOUGH DISCUSSIONS OF LATE, BUT UNLESS THE POTENTIAL BUYER IS A FOLLOWER OF NUMEROLOGY AND HAD A PARTICULAR NEED FOR A CERTAIN SEQUENCE - IMPOSSIBLY UNLIKELY - THEN BONGO CAN SEE NO REASON TO DIVULGE NUMBER

buying / selling / authenticating / TERMS, by dotdot on Jan 15, 2008 11:45:40 GMT 1, be honest and help the people if you wish to make a sale.
not answering questions or stating "I'm not going to tell you unless you win" - is both short sighted and slightly non commercial.
Make a judgement - take a decision - selling prints on ebay is a pretty mainstream route - if anyone wants to start making rules up - then you may find not too much in the way of business coming your way.
I can see peoples concern about conterfeiting - but alas believe this not be widespread and the db at pow to be quite robust and folks there helpful, where possible.
Please note not having prov is not a crime - if you don't have it be honest - say you don't have it - people will still want your print - you will only have less bidders - trust me this is not a bad thing.
I won something last year - and found out from the seller that over 1500 people were watching it.

buying / selling / authenticating / TERMS, by seidbereit on Jan 15, 2008 11:56:36 GMT 1, The only reason I can think of for demanding a print number as a prerequisite of bidding is where the print could be paired with another one, i.e. they have Bikini Circus 1 and want only the matching Bikini Circus 2, or Lucy Mac twin or whatever else came out in sets.
Is the print you're trying to sell one of those?
