Nafir Selfie Print Release & Competition , by Deleted on Aug 25, 2014 17:35:09 GMT 1, Does this piece reference the recent beheadings in the news? Or is it really just a piece discussing people loving selfies? If it's the former it's crass but at least brave, if it's the latter it's as vacuous as the activity it's referencing.

That doesn't really answer the question. Some of us would actually like to know the artists intention of creating a piece of art (hard to believe I know) rather than see how many variations it's humanely possible to put out (though I must congratulate you, releasing a million editions wth each print is essentially printing money).
You introduced a new artist and then just spunked the editions in our face. May be nice touch to tell us about the piece or god forbid, considering they're new artists encourage them to come on here.

Nafir Selfie Print Release & Competition , by Deleted on Aug 25, 2014 20:31:43 GMT 1, We are releasing - Selfie a great take on a social media trend thats says a lot about todays self obsessed society and how these people are so desperately trying to project themselves on the world..
So it's simply an image about selfies - anyone concerned it's a little shall we say 'one note' ? A little lacking in longevity? A little shall we say empty?

Why is it GP's responsibility to explain the image? Do you ask POW what Banksy's images mean? That's up to the artists' discretion

Nafir Selfie Print Release & Competition , by Wearology on Aug 25, 2014 20:47:56 GMT 1, This is my personal opinion and has no bearing on my asst. moderator responsibilities. Everybody please take a deep breath for a moment. Graffiti Prints / Giancarlo is one of the good guys around here and there is absolutely no reason to jump all over him and his organization. He is giving away a print to one of our forum members for Pete's Sake. GP has consistently come on here and offered up free items, sneak peaks and other opportunities for our community. Graffiti Prints is a business that relies on the forum as well as other avenues to sell their products, but they have been completely transparent in their intentions from inception. I have purchased a lot of art from GP over the past 2 years and have not had one issue or bad experience. Why is there constantly a need by some people on here to find fault with a person's or organizations intentions ? If some of us continue to act in this manner than Galleries in the future may be hesitant to come on here. Everybody take a chill pill and lets back to the art.

Errr I'm questioning the image and it's meaning - I couldn't be anymore arty if I tried.

Nafir Selfie Print Release & Competition , by Graffiti Prints on Aug 25, 2014 21:41:59 GMT 1, So just because they toss you a few bucks for advertising, no one can say anything negative about a release? I don't think that has anything to do with it
I pm'd him the other day saying the forum needs new energy explaining what artists do. the things they risk and explain them better in general, the forum I think needs this desperately
ESP to counteract the cynical comments I hear here all the time
I think all of the cynicism crap come 90% of the time from the same people constantly dissing threads, I think he is saying, not just mine!
That should probably be me explaining my artists, but I worry it comes across as hype and I also remember it's one person in the internet making a crappy comment
Artists won't do it they find it to stressful and it blows there brains
I have a worldwide business, but I love this forum and been here from the start and on the old eBay forum, so I like to do give ways and share things here I have logged on here most days from 2006.
I feel I have done a lot good for up and coming artists picking up the profits from more established ones and risking it on smaller cool smaller ones
Were still a tiny business, artisan print house we don't use cheap suppliers, only the best, from day one I always wanted amazing quality stock at great prices, check my original thread, I have done all I said I would
In not a gallery constantly promoting our latest show and how good a artist is and what a great investment they are
I am a print house who chooses cool images from artists I like and I have respect for from round the world!
I take all the risk money and hope they sell for us both as I do care about the artists and in most cases become good friends
Hope that takes things into context and people cut me some slack man
I don't force or hype anyone to buy, this is why I find it so hard to except even mr robots comments
U known a big artists about 4 years ago described the cynical people here as 12 grumpy people in the underpants on a Internet forum
I just imagine that 99% of the time, it usually brings things into reality!
But I do love this place it's info central for streetart and yeah points of view we all have them I do listen sometimes but it's yin and yang and when people can not except other like things they don't I find that super sad and I goo straight back to my underpants description
enjoy your extra day off in the UK

Nafir Selfie Print Release & Competition , by Wearology on Aug 25, 2014 21:43:44 GMT 1, I don't own this website. I am an unpaid volunteer and do not profit from being affiliated with this site. I actually lose out on a lot of opportunities for give aways because of my affiliation. You can say anything negative you want about GP or anyone else for that matter, we encourage open dialogue on here. I was just stating that my personal experiences with GP & Giancarlo have been amazing and I can't imagine why people on here would criticize a guy for trying to give away free art but then again this has happened in the past to other people that gave away free stuff so it is understandable. alittle your comments were frankly insulting and the insinuation I can be bought are way off the mark.

I was referring to this website, not you personally, which Graffiti Prints does in fact pay money to advertise on (http://urbanartassociation.com/thread/109961/advert-banner). As a moderator, you are a representative of the website, which is why my comment was directed your way.
If I don't like something that is being released, I say it. If I like something that is being released, I say it. If you want to take away the right for members to speak freely, you may as well close the forum down, because any ensuing discussion is worthless.
I have nothing against Giancarlo personally, nor do I have anything against their roster of artists. The only questionable actions were surrounding the OUTIS release, but other than that, they seem like a good organization.
I don't particularly like this style of promotion, and I know I am not alone in that sentiment. Each thread like this is 6-10 pages of yes men hoping to get a free print, with no actual discussion of the work in question. I commented that the edition size is aggressive for a first release. A comment which I stand by.
I don't own this website.
