Car insurance companies charge men more for insurance than women. Smokers can be charged more for health insurance. And women generally never pay a cover charge at bars and clubs. Those are just a few examples off the top of my head.
If a business were to charge black people more for a service than white people, that would run into civil rights violations. But it's fair game to charge new customers more for a product than old customers.
That said, this is just one long, ongoing shit show. If anyone pays $500 for a print sight unseen without even knowing the artist, they deserve to lose their money.

Hirsts could hit that number but ones at that price point trend toward a lower edition or diamond dust. Jeff Koons comes to mind as around that kind of number. Dale Chihuly studio glass would be that kind of number. I dont think Os G or Kaws would hit that number in that edition size.
So all told, i think that BNE is full of garbage. I think he will release a garbage print. I think that a handful of foolish people will buy it because they have nothing better to do with their money then throw it down a well that will never get dug (see that was a water charity joke)
Os Gemeos or Damien Hirst are the only ones I can think of that charge $6000 for a print edition of 500. I held onto my shirt as well, set a calendar for the 18th, lets see. Ive followed BNE (Benet) since I lived in SF and wrote graffiti, loved hsi block busters and style then, so im trying to stick with him now and give the benefit of the doubt. ugh...
