DOLK “Che” Print, by JockoLad on Oct 9, 2007 13:31:22 GMT 1, Just logged on to BBC.com and Dolk' Che image is sitting pride of place on the homepage.
Good advertising for a much under estimated piece I reckon. Glad it's been revealed to the masses.
Now lets see if they start selling for more on eBay as a consequence. I'll be keeping my print above the fireplace thankyou very much!!!!

no mention of Dolk himself in any of the articles, however it does mention the image being ripped off for use in pop art, and has been sprayed on walls

Aiko is the young lady from faile, pure evil is the guy that does the panda canvas / prints at SG, the names arrived on the site yesterday, assume its in preparation for a sold out / here's what you could have had type of thing.

DOLK “Che” Print, by bennyg on Dec 6, 2006 17:49:01 GMT 1, that Pure Evil 'Panda Rocks' one was hanging up in the Ghetto the other day. It was a bit crowded on Sunday so didn't see if any were for sale. However his Flickr thing seems to think they are (and will be on POW before long), here's the link:

I'll have a look down there tomorrow methinks

I cann't believe POW do culls. The POW site rightly boasts 'Everything we have ever has sold out' I think most stuff that was almost sold out is marked as sold out on the website or taken down and sold at the ghetto.

If so, why didn't they do it with the other prints that were also selling simultaneously at the Ghetto and online? Such as Nick Walker's Mona Simpson, for instance?

DOLK “Che” Print, by evanharding on Dec 7, 2006 14:48:50 GMT 1, POW have made a c**k up. their computer has stuffed up. so the prints i bought on the 27.11 are now no longer available! (07.12) - nice. they've only just realised that they have run out of a bunch of stuff, even though they've been taking orders for them. im rather annoyed to say the least.
the kid acne i paid for is no longer available, and remaining Che stock wont be in till january - even though ive paid for it.
not happy man

Just been informed of the Kid Acne myself, my girlfriend isn't happy with me, we've already got 2 & 4 and she's been on at me to get the others, but me being me I've waited and waited and bought other prints instead, now they've gone and I'm in trouble
Ché is currently being printed and will be back with us soon though

That's cos they're flogging all the ones you bought down at SG to makie a quick killing, they're fucking up their customer base, very naive. No company can survive without solid foundations, they'll end up shifting the customer demographic to a fickle 'trend' based group, what happens when it's no longer 'cool'. Thin ice, they seriouisly need to reassess after Xmas IMO.

My goodness, I'm agreeing with Nu, so here goes.... Yes Nu, I agree. Got a call today to tell me my m16 lolly by hewlett wouldnt be with me until late january, I thanked the younglady, grumbled about shit service, she apologised, then i informed her I got my print last week, so the fact it wouldnt be in stock until january buggered me not, she thanked me, I thanked her, then we both thanked god that silliness was over. They do seem to be stiffing the regulars to pander to the flexi-brigade, bit of a shame really.

I don't think POW have to worry too much. The reason they are so popular is they have a supply of prints from popular artists. I don't think anybody buys from POW because of their customer service. It's true that if they piss off alot of people that it might have some effect on the sales of their less well known artists but, let's face it, next time they put up a Banksy or a Micallef or an Eelus or a D*face it is going to sell out in hours. This will be where they make the most of their cash as the mark-up on these prints is greater.
Their bigger worry would be if the more popular artists stop selling their prints through POW but I think that is unlikely unless they really really start to piss people off.
It doesn't make poor customer service ok, mind.

That classic Che image wasn't exactly invented by Banksy, you know. And how is it a rip-off anyway? Banksy had Che wearing funky glasses. Dolk has Che wearing a t-shirt with his own image. Night and day to me... unless of course, there's some other Banksy Che image that I don't know of...

DOLK “Che” Print, by ptron on Dec 8, 2006 2:40:55 GMT 1, I think the rip off is in sentiment. Banksy's shows Che as so cool he has to wear shades, where Dolk's has him saying "I'm the man!" Both are close in meaning. That said, I think Dolk did a better job of caputuring the feeling of "Che the superstar" and I get a chuckle every time I look at it.

You have people buying "Cut it Out" and "Existencilism" from eBay for more than £50 when they're still on sale at POW for £4.99 too, so this shouldn't be a surprise I think the only reason behind it is that they're not doing their research... and the only reason behind that is because they're not really into Dolk or Banksy as much, just the casual eBay browser who sees the Che, goes "Wow, that's a great image", falls for the "SOLD OUT" schpiel, and bids on it. They're pretty much buying because they like the product and not because of the hype and such... which is good, but tragic at the same time 'cos they're being taken advantage of to some degree.
In the case of Che, it may just be that they've only recently discovered Dolk, and the only way to get the print at the moment is through eBay. Even if they went on POW, they'll see "Sold Out" for the XL version, and the regular version isn't even on there anymore. And the POW site doesn't go as far as saying "Temporarily out of stock" or anything like that, they usually just make it disappear and leave everybody wondering.
