Signed Girl With Balloon , by wisky on Sept 17, 2014 14:53:15 GMT 1, Hi there,
Would anyone know the current value of a mint condition signed GWB with PC cert and framed by Mr Frameman in a museum quality glassed frame?
Bought in 2008 as a present/investment for my girlfriend as she/we love the image.
We are not rich and we have been told that it could be worth 30k + ....... Scary!
Should we sell now at....... 'Largoss profitomos' or is it likely to increase even further due to it's Iconic status!
All suggestions appreciated.
Cheers,
Michael.

Thing is he's not released anymore prints since CYW. He's made his mark on the art world whether he wanted to or not. He's in the history books now. It's his best known image. It's signed. It's got COA from Pest. You probably bought it for sub ยฃ4k (props to you!!!) so selling now would already give you a handsome return.
I think it's worth north of ยฃ20K personally but there are some really clued up chaps on here who will be able to give you better advise.
Any chance of a picture?!

If you have no other plans with the money and enjoy the image then leave it on the wall and do just that.
If you go for option 2 make sure it is insured for what it would cost you to buy another. I would have thought that figure would be around 30k.

I would have thought that figure would be around 30k. If you were to sell it, I would time it w/ the HBO doc in mid-November.
Someone has an unsigned listed for 21k on ebay (which probably won't happen)...BUT I would presume there will be more uninformed wealthy people who will catch the doc, and would say "hey, that'd be fun to buy, I'll pay whatever." Selling now, or on this message board-you'd probably only sell for its true price because you'd be selling to sharps, as opposed to the uninformed.
You should list it for 40-45k on ebay in mid November---but negotiate a deal off the site, to avoid massive 10% fee.

I would hold any signed banksy prints especially this one unless you need the money. Signed GWB is the grail for many fans and will only become more and more difficult to prise from people's collections in future, sky's the limit on value I would say. Pass it on to your kids

Signed Girl With Balloon , by Red Barron on Sept 17, 2014 19:25:41 GMT 1, If you are thinking of selling it to then blow the cash on a larger TV, a fancy vacation or new shoes for the GF...keep the print. But if by selling it you are enabled to pursue a lifelong dream like opening a bar, feel financially free to start a family, make a solid contribution to humanity, or do anything else that life is REALLY about...then dump the piece of paper. I do think prices will keep moving higher but at a slower rate than we have seen in the past eighteen months as the higher they go, the smaller the target buying audience is.

Hey, I am average person who was lucky enough to buy this print 6 years ago and am now in a position that this print is 'ballooning' in price, 35K - 45K is alot of money to us, although we are certainly not desperate for cash, so my question was, and is 'should I sell or hold out?', it is a big dilemma and I was after some sensible advice from knowledgable people!

End of 2011 and we made a bit of profit from selling a property and I was trying to talk my wife into buying one for an investment as it will be one of his most valuable/iconic prints in years to come in my opinion.. It was 14k pounds with a gallery, but we passed as it's a lot of cash.. If you don't need the money I would be keeping it, even if prices drop a little you will still be up.. or your not sort of cash maybe cash in and enjoy it, holidays with kids etc.... Good luck whatever you decide

I wouldn't sell it. 5 years from now you will be happy you didn't.
I'm not 100% but I think these are now approaching around $60K U.S. aren't they?

I would presume there will be more uninformed wealthy people who will catch the doc, and would say "hey, that'd be fun to buy, I'll pay whatever." I'm becoming increasingly skeptical about how successful/well-received this documentary will be; I watch a ton of documentaries (including HBOdocs, which I consider a subset). HBOdocs over the past few years have extremely fluctuated in quality. They have always had very great documentaries, but lately they have been letting in a significant amount of sub-par documentaries (along with their usual great ones) either due to a buzz-word or perhaps just plain lack of content.
I simply hope the documentary will be good. And I sincerely hope that no one will view the documentary itself as being a creation by Banksy.

In the UK you are lucky to see 1.5 - 2% interest rate or 3% if you stick it in your kids name from most banks so just think of it as a smart investment by keeping it as the Banksy will give you a higher return than any bank will plus you don't have to pay tax on the interest. P.s what was your address again
