Kaws Presenting The Past Print , by stvro22 on Oct 15, 2014 19:43:58 GMT 1, Colors definitely look vibrant. They better be for the cost. But I do agree the image is very poor. Kaws imagery needs the cartoon character hook to work for me. The abstract style leaves me needing more.

Kaws Presenting The Past Print , by sixsense on Oct 16, 2014 4:16:54 GMT 1, Im actually wondering if he used the same paint on this print where he used for original. I have seen his original works many times from art fairs and gallery shows. The colour is exactly that vibrant, glowing on its own (excuse my poor English) . As he uses acrylic on his canvas works, it is quite possible to apply it on prints too. Also, there are no brush stroke or 'artist touch' on his works, they were painted by assistant . Therefore, despite the uniquenss , the only difference about this print and original is canvas and paper.

These screens "could" use the same technique, neon colors over a couple layers each to get the brightness but I couldnt say for sure.

That's sort of nice, but also shows what a load of rubbish having a distinction between the main edition and APs is.
It's clearly only been done to give an illusion of a slightly smaller edition size.

A coffee cup that close to artwork is asking for trouble.....
We never allow any liquids anywhere near peoples artwork or even where we take work in.
maybe I worry to much....

Kaws Presenting The Past Print , by cmodart on Oct 17, 2014 2:42:46 GMT 1, Yeah. I was thinking that, but when i went to the framer, and opened it up, i realized the colors were really bright, and given it's size, i wanted to add some black as i felt it played off the colors better. we'll see how it turns out soon! If it's bright then all the more reason to go for something completely neutral. White backing, white frame I guarantee it will pop. I think the blue and black will merge with the print colours and then become a tad confusing. As I said before just my opinion. i recently bought 2 works w/ really bright colors, and they came in white box, float mount on white. all that color kind of overpowers the white. I understand what sgolby is after. I hope you guys post some framed prints!

Kaws Presenting The Past Print , by cmodart on Oct 17, 2014 3:02:39 GMT 1, even those pictures don't do it justice. the colors are absolutely electric. Oh well, as long as the colours are ok. f**k the image of what looks like intestines having a sex party. The colors look amazing on this. Wish i would have bought one.
That said, I kind of agree that the composition is a little strange. The Ups and Downs set, for example, is really well composed and the scale of the shapes in proportion to one another provides some cohesiveness even across 10 images despite the wild shapes and colors.
In Presenting..., it's strange to see the thin snake with shadow and depth wrapping the flat figure, and the flat circle behind the dimensional shards. I suppose the juxtaposition of the past and the present, the depth versus the flat, the curtain and behind the curtain, etc... may be part of the work - to create tension as they say
There are so many competing elements, that it's hard to form a critical opinion. kudos

Suffice it to say when there is a lot of color, sometimes the white / white is one more high contrast color rather than letting the art be the focus. It can compete, because it is a color, after all.

Kaws Presenting The Past Print , by bjoern on Oct 23, 2014 19:45:47 GMT 1, Hello everyone,
I just received my print last week from kaws and when I opened it with the framer I recognized that the print is damaged on the lower right corner. Due to the fact the parcel is not damaged I assume the damage must have been occurred during packaging.
Do you think Kaws will replace it? I do not want a refund - if not does it really negatively influence the worth of the print?
Has anybody ever had the same problem? Really desperate and need every advice how I should deal with it!
Thanks in advance!

I would definitely include all pictures supporting your statement and of course with the price paid of that print or any print in that case, you would want a 100% mint condition piece. Good luck I am sure you will figure it out.
